Check out what I made: the Giant Bomb Concept Venn Diagrammer!
Uh, yeah they are. There's one area for GAME A, one area for GAME B, and one area for BOTH GAME A & B. It's the exact same thing as that diagram you posted, but it's not circular. A Venn diagram is not necessarily defined by its circularity, but how it organizes its data." Interesting but none of them are actual venn diagrams.
"
Anyways, I just realized that I have no homework and no classes for the rest of the day, so I think I'm going to hunker down and work out a way to streamline mass copying concepts from one game to the other via this interface. :D
EDIT: Thanks to Top Man Andy being awesome, you can now click on any concept and it'll take you to the Giant Bomb page in a new window, so the next time you want to know what what "HUDdie" means, or you release that "hugging" is actually a legitimate concept, you can just click on it to look it up.
" @TheSeductiveMoose: You know what RapeLay could really use? Screen splatter. "Yeah. I was just thinking how Kane & Lynch 2 would benefit from some pregnancy.
This is awesome. Can you set it up to show only differences, say for maybe comparing sequels to originals or games in the same genre?
Let's say you want to look at StarCraft and Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, find the concepts from each that apply to the other ("Cloaking" is only listed in SC1, but it should be in both, for example), and click each one. The website will make a new fourth column, below the middle column: a sort of "work-in-progress" area. Clicking a concept from Column A or B will cause it to move over to this new "Column D" ("C" being the "combined" one in the middle; "D" is below it). Once you're satisfied with all of the changes, you click "finish," or something, and you'll be presented with two bookmarklets, one for each game, and a link to each game's Giant Bomb page. You drag both bookmarklets to your Bookmarks bar in your browser, and open each link in a new tab. In the StarCraft tab, you click the StarCraft bookmarklet, and the page switches to "edit" mode and automatically adds in all of the concepts from StarCraft II: WoL that you wanted to carry over to StarCraft. You hit "Save," tab over to the Starcraft II: WoL tab, click the appropriate bookmarklet, and bam, all of the concepts from StarCraft that you wanted to bring to the sequel are now filled out as well. Click save there, delete those bookmarklets, wait for mod approval if you're under 1,000 points, and you're done.
I started working on this a few hours ago but then fell asleep, but I'll probably toil away at this the rest of the night, now. :D
This is a brilliant concept. Can't wait to see how you develop it further (or hell, it's fine as is)!
This is an awesome thing you've made here. Finally, an easy way to see all the things Persona 4 and Deadly Premonition had in common!
Inspired by the discussion on the bombcast about the diffrent mentality of Randy Pitchford and Ken Levine I present to you, BioShock vs. Duke Nukem Forever!
Functional toilets!
Because the question was raised on the Bombcast, here's how EA Sports MMA compares to Fallout: New Vegas.
To be honest, I wasn't even thinking about filling out the wiki, I was just thinking about comparing games. Awesome, awesome work though. I am so excited to see what else you may do with this.
This is really cool, but for me it just highlights how there's a shit-ton of very general concepts that can be applied to almost any game, and most games don't have them. I made a Prototype vs. Infamous diagram, and I was just going down the Infamous list checking off all the concepts that should be in Prototype as well. Like "Artificial Intelligence" and "Boss Fight" and "Collectibles" and "World Map" etc.
Without this, I would never have learned that CoD4 & Super Mario Land have one thing in common.
Fish.
" @LordAndrew: It's just that I played DMC3 to death, and for the life of me I can't figure out what the 'valuable garbage' in it is. "I've never played a DMC game in my life, but I was reminded of this Penny Arcade strip.
