SNES version emulation on PC. Like 10 times. I forget. All on my big brother's new game plus with maximum completion (all characters level ** and best equipment).
Chrono Trigger: Have you played it?
Just for that, I'm going to gather all the original copies of the game I can find and burn them on a bonfire.@TheSeductiveMoose said:

Yup, I've played and beaten it both on the SNES and DS. One of the best games of all time, IMO. I'm not a big JRPG guy, either.
I've played a bit of it on an emulator a few years ago, it was alright...I guess, I could see why it was considered innovative at the time. I got lost somewhere in the future and then didn't continue playing it.
I played it once on the ds and now I am replaying it on the ps3 thanks to the downloadable ps1 classic version
I played a rom of that game when I was a kid on a laptop my school gave my year group as part of their "Edutech" program. Got all the way up to the last boss and couldn't beat him, also, that laptop died soon afterward along with that save file. To this day I still kinda reget not seeing the end of that game.
@Sanaj: I don't know if the PSN has anything extra in it, but I am pretty sure the DS is just the original game. I would say it depends if you want to sit in front of a TV or have the ability to play it anywhere.
Also, I played the DS version. I never finished it, but I am pretty sure I was to the end. Really don't remember much about it though which makes me excited for the endurance run !
@MauveForest: After looking it up, I don't think the PSN version has anything extra when compared to the DS version. It's lacking some minor additions given to the DS version.
I'm probably going to pick it on PSN and deal with some load times unless I can find the DS version for less than $30. That's a bit too much money given the games that have been and are releasing soon.

No.
Given the choice between the PSN version or the DS one, which one should I get at this point?
The DS version contains all of the content in the PS1 version, plus new content and is optimized for the platform. The PSN version is just the PS1 version ported over as a straight PlayStation Classics title. If you have a choice, go for the DS version.
Bought it on the DS late last year and played through part of it, but lost the cartridge somehow. Hope to find it before the ER starts so I can hopefully finish it.
oh damn, ive beaten it so many times. it was like THE RPG of my youth.
i was never big into final fantasy. or mario, or even zelda all that much. but chrono trigger? god damn. that was my game. i still have nostalgiagasms hearing the music on youtube.
Where's the option of having played it on an emulator? 'cause that's what I did a few years back. Great game. Not sure if it'll make a good candidate for and ER since the previous two games have been batshit crazy. I'll still watch it though.

As I said earlier, I don't include unofficial/pirate platforms in such polls.
I rented it when it was on the SNES. I actually didn't understand how RPGs worked at the time and had a bad experience. I figured out the whole RPG thing after playing Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and went back to it. I got to the Prehistoric Era, but then I had to return the game. I enjoyed it, but never enough to buy it and finish it.
I first played it on the DS where I beat it once and then went through a New Game Plus and got about half of the alternate endings.

It really just depends on where you would rather play it. Both versions are great.
Yep, probably on my top ten of all time list. I had one save with all level 99 characters, the best armor/weapons for each (which took 4-5 playthroughs I think), and having seen all the endings. Ah, the golden days when I had 100s of hours to toss into a game.
I remember back in the SNES days the idea of New Game Plus and multiple endings was amazing to me.
never owned a SNES or PS1 or DS and didn't know it was out for PSN so I got it and played a few hours of it on virtual console, maybe I'll play some more of it once the endurance run starts.
I bought it on the PS1 but I didn't get more than a couple hours into it. After FFVII came out and blew me away it was hard for me to go back to the old sprite based SNES RPGs. Now it has been so long that I doubt it would live up to the massive praise it gets. Everything it does well has probably been done again and I've already seen it, so even if it pioneered something I'd be able to respect that but I doubt I'd find it much fun to play.
I'll watch the ER, but the magic of the ERs were that they were weird Japanese games that not many people played, also Jeff and Vinny. CT is hugely popular and not very 'wacky' from what I understand. I like Ryan and Patrick as much as the next guy but it's not what I'm looking for. Maybe I'm mistaken and it'll be really interesting anyway, so I'll still give it a shot.
