Yeah, Timesplitters 2.
Do you have any single, ONE, favorite game of all time? (Gaming Question of the Day 9-24-10)
" I actually have no idea what my favourite game is. I can say a game I love and always will, Super Mario RPG. Speaking of which I haven't played that game in awhile, wish I could find that damn video wire... "Yep, was gonna say this myself, basically word for word. Such a brilliant game and always love replaying it whenever I get the chance.
Obviously, my favorite game is the best one ever. There can be no doubt.
" Yes! Grim Fandango. I'll fight to the death for this game ;) "Pity the controls were awful though >:| If it were actually Point n click it would've been great.
No, it changes with the times. The more I think about it the more I want to switch positions on the list and whatnot. It's too hard for me to pick one.
" Obviously, my favorite game is the best one ever. There can be no doubt. "As always, I am the only other person who has ever played that game. Nonetheless, you aren't wrong. FE4 is definitely the best... SNES Fire Emblem. I'm still a sucker for the first US released on myself, if only because of nostalgia.
However, personally, I don't actually have any one favorite game of all time. KotOR is definitely up there, as is Ocarina of Time, Baldur's Gate 2, Resident Evil 4, and Might and Magic VII. But I couldn't pick any one as my overall favorite. Same goes with movies and books.
It's a tough choice between games like Shadow of the Colossus, Deus Ex and Chrono Trigger, but I think I'm going to have to go with...
Homeworld 2.
I'll concede to you that FE7 is definitely one of the most refined games out there, but FE4 packs a much stronger punch. It's the difference between Lufia 1 and the remake of Lufia 2, if either of those games were much better.
Even with all the different types of games I feel I can safely say Tales of Symphonia is my favorite game, though I do feel that OoT is pretty much nose to nose with it. ToS wins for me just because it's longer and has more of a focus on story.
LoZ: Ocarina of Time.
Oh dear god I love that game. I can't think about it without wanting to experience it all over again. The kind of game I cry at. Perfect.

I've played FE4. I also haven't played a Fire Emblem game I haven't liked. FE10 is probably my favorite one though. However, I can't really call anything my favorite game of all time. I like different games for different reasons, and it's hard for me to compare games that are as different as, say, Persona 4 and Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Nah, I can't reduce it to just one. Even among my most favorites list here on Giant Bomb, I'd say the ones at the top cycle around depending on my mood and what I am playing at the moment. For example, for years KOTOR was at the top of my list, then came Dragon Age and that took the spot, but recently I've been playing KOTOR again and that now back in the number-one spot. Will it always be? Probably not, since I am also playing Oblivion again and that thing is just so versatile. I can say I have a definite group of games, but my ONE can be different each day.
My most favourite would probably be EarthBound. It's pretty much timeless to me. Basically it makes me feel like a kid again every time I play it. Hard to describe that being-a-kid feeling, but I think everyone has an idea. Note I wasn't part of the SNES game era at all and played this years after so I can’t even chalk it up to nostalgia. It's quirky, surreal and humorous with numerous themes and concepts thrown in yet nothing felt forced.
" @FunExplosions said:Did I say nothing impressed me at all? Perhaps all I meant was that I like so many video games for their own merits, but have yet to find one that can capture me with every facet of its making. Bottom line: I love games when they come out, but - like everyone else - I find myself nitpicking over them as time goes by. There hasn't yet been a game that's held my enjoyment for extended perio... oh crap. Wait. No. I do have a favorite game. Demon's Souls. It may slightly be eating away at me every time I pick it up, but it's a game that I can enjoy again and again, no matter how long I've spent away from it. Still, though, it has its flaws.Hmmm, why bother sticking to this hobby if nothing have impressed you so far? maybe look for something else you might enjoy more? =0 "" Nope. Game developers have a long way to go before they impress me that much. "
