Crackdown 2.
E3 is now over, what was your Game of the Show!?
Wii Sports Resort for proving Motion Plus works and The Crystal Bearers for proving Square-Enix can still be creative, even within the FF brand.
Notable mentions: Endless Ocean 2, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Sin & Punishment 2, Super Magio Galaxy 2, Cursed Mountain, Golden Sun DS, WarioWare: Made In Ore, and various other stuff you won't care about I guess.
Well i would have said Modern warfare 2, but that game didnt have a big impact, you just know its gonna be good.
So now I say Mass Effect 2, just big improvements and impressive presentation from the last game.
Disappointed, but not shocked that Alan Wake turned out to be pretty derivative. Lighting and fog looks coll but thats it.
Not sure what my best of show would be. But Golden Sun DS was definitely the biggest surprise to me. I kind of expected Wiimote answers from MS and Sony, but after 6 years without getting a 3rd game, Golden Sun was certainly not on my radar. Especially with Camelot and Nintendo parting ways a while back.
I guess the game I am most excited to try would be Assassin's Creed 2. I am really excited to see how they've updated that almost-amazing game.
" @AgentJ: If you want to buy better machine for another mmo that's not going deliver on your expectations, by all means go right ahead. But I'm not going to put that down on some kind of list. "
How is anyone listing something that didn't have gameplay for game of show? That doesn't make sense....
Lots of people are posting game they look forward to most, which isn't game of show. Game of show is the game everyone is looking at and goes to play.
I honestly don't see why anyone would think Alan Wake was the best game of E3. It certainly looks pretty good, just there were other games that looked better.
For Xbox 360, Forza 3 or Splinter Cell: Conviction.
For PS3, Uncharted 2, The Last Gaurdian or that LittleBigPlanet racing game.
Microsoft won E3 for me thou.
" Crackdown 2.IMPRESSIVE ASCENT AGENT!"
Mass Effect 2, glad to hear they are working on all the issues from the first because I loved it so much. Can't wait for some new weapons.
Also Assassins Creed 2, before E3 I couldn't really care about it but that live demo got me back in on it.
Brutal Legend and Secret of Monkey Island remake coming up close behind.
I thought each of the big 3 had something great to show, but I wish the PC had a stronger presence. Oh well. Here are my picks from each camp - and yes, I think each of the big 3 walked away with great conferences.
Microsoft - Forza 3 got me excited again to start designing and modifying cars. I'm digging the cockpit view, too, and I hope you can access it if you choose to hire drivers. That would be all sorts of awesome.
Sony - God of War 3 looks like a riot, and I'm really looking forward to causing some of that chaos.
Nintendo - Super Mario Galaxy 2 really has me pumped. It's great to see more love for 3d Mario platforming this generation.
Overall surprise of the show - The Monkey Island stuff went far beyond my hopes, and I'm very excited to play new versions of an old favorite. Telltale is quickly becoming one of my favorite developers.
Runner-ups: Gran Turismo 5, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Alan Wake.
I've gotta do a list, because this E3 kicked some serious ass. In descending order:
- Mass Effect 2
- Left 4 Dead 2
- MGS: Peace Walker
- Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
- Splinter Cell: Conviction
Splinter Cell: Convictions
Assassin's Creed II
The Saboteaur (Not sure, the gameplay looks quite good, and the black and white/color thing looks awesome. Just for some reason seams like it wont work, also I hope that when you alert guards and your in a disguise you dont automatically change back to how you looked before (like in the gameplay demo) but still want to hear more)
Professor Layton And The Diabolical Box motherfuckers!!!!!! That's where it's at!!
That is actually one of my top games of the show in all seriousness, but Splinter Cell: Conviction, Mass Effect 2 and Just Cause 2 are also on my short list. Can't forget Assassin's Creed 2 as well.
" I've said it in other threads, but c'mon:
best game of the show
In general though, it is way too hard to say one specifically. There was a whole bunch of standout titles.
Resident Evil PSP, I have to choose this it's the law. The one thing I can legitimately be called a fanboy of is Resident Evil.
Other than that, Metroid: Other M, fucking weird name but holy shit, Metroid crossed with Ninja Gaiden should be absolutely amazing, I hated Prime so i'm doubly looking forward to this.
Also, Brutal Legend because of the sheer amount of names it has in it, and new music from Dio? Heck, even if I don't buy the game i'll be buying the soundtrack for sure.
From all the things i've heard and seen, Mass Effect 2 was by far the game of show to me. Even if I had never heard of or played the first game, I'd still be thinking this. To get a little off topic, and maybe sound a little dick-ish, why is everyone saying The Last Guardian for their game of show? I mean, yeah, you may be really excited for it, but they didn't show anything of it. That's like someone saying The Agency was their game of show.
