If I could make games, I would make an RTS for this.
F*** This Jam Sounds Like the Best Game Jam Ever
Are social games a genre? I really hate those horrible cooldown times and other kinds of cash-in crap they have on Facebook.

Hopefully someone gives the Generic War FPS a makeover.
Someone at this convention, please make a third person shooter wherein the war soldiers are in reality really puny, skinny jean-wearing Goth kids that slit their wrists after each kill. The protagonist only thinks he is a Marine, but in reality he is shooting squirrels in his trailer park.
@Darthozzan: Oh damn, forgot about that gem...
Mafia Wars then? Though EA might've already covered that with The Godfather 2.
Sounds great. Who better to improve on a genre than those who have qualms with its quirks and standard conventions?
Definitely like the idea. Some interesting things could come out of this, from absurd satires to a total fucking of conventions. I'm vaguely reminded of that joke Flash "RPG" in which you just walk in a line and continually level up until it's over.
I double dog dare them to make a better-worst FPS than this:
If I had a dollar for every time I say "SO REALLLL" while playing some other game, I could buy meself a season pass. ;D
I'd suggest someone lampoon adventure games, but I'm not really sure anyone could tell a satire from the real thing at this point.

We're going to get a bunch of generic war shooters, social games (i.e Facebook) and Kinect games. Fuck it, tie all 3 together.
It will have pay-to-win features, update your wall every 36-153 seconds, have buttons that don't work 1/75th of the time (or work DOUBLE) and is played primarily with an N64 controller by design.
I think it would be a grand challenge to work on something that you don't like and see it you could figure out how to make it palatable for your self.

Get EA on the phone, we've found their answer to CoD.
I wish this was like, a project with AAA type budget behind it and not a 2 day jam thing. Still awesome idea, through years of gaming I've just grown to dislike some genres so I don't even give them a second look, anything that takes a stab at messing with that is cool.
hm. so that means i'd have to make either a Puzzle game, a Board game, or a JRPG. and being that i'm not Japanese, that leaves only Puzzle and Board. i think puzzle wins, by a very small margin, only because board games actually become kind of interesting once put into video games. i think i'll join this. subscribed to their email. thanks, Patrick!
The interesting thing is it makes me think what genere I hate. Then think about why and what it would have toi look like for me to want to play it.
I think that could be fantastically innovative.
@MikeGosot: I wish you the best, that sounds like an interesting combination. I hope you can get something working that at least shows off the concept.
Screwing around with some of these "MAKE YOUR GAME" programs, i discovered that i can't animate ANYTHING, because i suck. So yeah, i hope for the best.@MikeGosot: I wish you the best, that sounds like an interesting combination. I hope you can get something working that at least shows off the concept.
