For those of us who played either the original Pokemon games (Blue, Red, Yellow, or Green versions) or the remakes (Fire Red and Leaf Green), which Pokemon did you choose to take from Professor Oak??

Charmander. There's always a lack of (good) Fire pokémon in all games.

I picked them all. I would beat the game and restart it over and over again. I loved Pokemon as a kid.

All of them, I played the game like a hundred times.

I chose Squirtle, it's my favourite out of the 3. Although I do have to admit that Charizard is slightly more awesome than Blastoise.

i had a lnk cable a big brother and all 3 of the origanal games so i ended up wth all 3 
but realy  Bulbasaur is the only real way to go theres no question there but to be fair im a johto boy lol

Charmander because he was, and is, the coolest thing out!

Everything is better with Fire, Pokemon is no exception to this rule.
 
I always seem to like the designs of these as well, probably followed by the Grass starter, there is always so many water types that I tend to ignore them.

Really, though. In retrospect, I think Charmander would have been the best choice.

I have no idea who i picked first, but i do know that on replays, I usually always picked Squirtle. Sure Charmander looked cool in his final form but it wasn't worth having such a huge disadvantage during the first gym battle.

Well Charizard is one of my favorites from Gen 1, but it kinda sucks trying to use him now in multi. Because stealth rocks really do a number on him.

What's with people choosing their starter because of the first gym? If you picked Charmander, you could just catch a Mankey to beat Brock with. Charmander all the way.

Who's always got your back? Who pulls it out of the bag at the last minute? Who knows how to properly mess a dude up? Who makes other pokemon quake with fear? Who forced Professor Oak in to a pokeball? Who peed in Squirtle's pool? Who told Mewtwo he was a sad little clone? Who slapped Ash and told him to stop crying? Who can catch bullets out of the air? Who threw Charmander into the snow capped peak of Kilimanjaro? Who eats diamond razor blades for lunch? Who's best friends with Gizmo? Who kissed Miss Piggy behind Kermit's back? Who pushed Pikachu into a lake just to see him light up?

My first Pokemon game was Yellow so I eventually got all three starters without trading.  Though in Leaf/Green I chose Charizard because Fire Pokemon aren't as common as plant or water types.

Why anyone would choose anything other than Squirtle I cannot undertand.  Just look at his ass.  Look at him!

The first game I ever got was pokemon yellow so I chose pikachu natch. When I got blue and later red I think chose squirtle and charmander if only because of the respective colors.

@Video_Game_King: I'm to going to ask you to retract your statement regarding Charizard's badass status. Charizard is the most badass.

I picked Charmander the first time, mainly because Leaf pokemon were easy to come by so beating up your nemesis was easy.
