At least once a week since I upgraded from 56k.
Have you ever pirated a game, music, etc.?
Mostly just music, but ya. It's weird how now you can litterally get almost any piece of music for free in like 10 minutes.
I had an Amiga. It was the only way you could get games for it if I remember correctly.
(I think I only ever bought three or four boxed games for it)
Mostly just music for me. The only games I have pirated are those that I have previously owned, but lost the CD/key to.
Games if they get reviewed poorly enough and cant warrant spedning money on.
Music i fi cant afford it at the time.
Mostly if i end up liking the pirated copy of whatever, i end up buying anyway.
I have pirated music, games and movies but these days I have cut out games...I can't pirate pc games without feeling extremely guilty
Music, but mostly old punk bands that broke up in the 80's.
Games, but usually only if they're old, or if there's no demo and i want to see how it'll run. if it does run i'll buy it, if it's really slow then i wont.
and movies. *no comment on that*
" like you wouldn't believe "His own answer applied against his own situation. Reflects me.
A few odd games that I would never buy. Although I modded one of my original Xbox's to play Halo 2 about a month early in French lol. Still bought 2 of them when it came out though (For LAN's)
Music: all the time, can't remember when I last paid for it.
Movies: most of the time but I do buy the films I really like.
TV Shows: I have seen every episode of Heroes, Lost, Prison Break, The Real Hustle, Hustle and Skins but I have NEVER watched any on TV or bought on Box Set. Downloaded them all.
Anime: almost 100% downloaded.
Programs: I think I actually only own a Windows 95 disc.
Hey you asked :P.
Yes; I haven't paid for a movie [that wasn't at the cinema] in ages.
I only pirate music and games occasionally, I try to buy most of it but there's way too many of them at too high prices to get everything legally. I pick and choose what deserves my money the most; I never pirate indie stuff.
I do not pirate music (because the outlets are rarely computer safe) or cinema (because movies are rarely worth the trouble). Oh, and I suppose I have some moral objections to stealing intellectual property, but only nominally so.
I have played around with emulators/roms of old games that are otherwise unavailable (aside from niche stores in the secondary market). But really, that's been mostly Fire Emblem, and I've been slowly collecting the japanese carts of these games anyway. The only games I've downloaded/played that I do not own the cart/cd to is a Beast Wars game for the PSX, and the unreleased Star Fox 2. The former game is beyond awful and the latter only exists a non physical format. Oh, and Monopoly for the NES. That game is fun.
No not everyone is lying that says they haven't Pirated (stole) ....and from the apparent results from this poll, one can see very clearly why there are HUGE problems which make develpoers do what they do and in the end costs myself and others that are honest to foot the bill for the scumbags that rip-off the industry ! Anyone that Pirates should die a very slow, painful and horrible death !!!!!

I've never pirated a game. I'll sometimes watch a movie online but I never download them. And music? Way too much.
The funny thing about piracy is that there are all these loopholes that don't require downloading torrents. I mean, for TV shows and music, you can always just go to one of those video sites and stream stuff, whether it's new, old, or obscure. I have a friend who told me about some sites with manga scans too.
I'm curious about everyone feels pirating fan translations of existing games that would be otherwise unavailable. There was that Mother 3 game which was translated, and many people will never experience that game because Nintendo will not localize it.
" @Rhaknar:Anyone else find this post hilarious?

Anyway, I'm pirating something right now.
I don't pirate games. I pirate music constantly and movies fairly frequently, but I buy movies if I really like them.
" Mostly just music for me. The only games I have pirated are those that I have previously owned, but lost the CD/key to. "LIAR. Just kidding lol. Most of the time it's just music or really old PC games that can actually work on my rig. I would never go the extra mile to pirate 360 games and stuff.
I dont pirate games
I download music, however I buy the music I like after and without the ability to pirate music I would not have found out about many of my favourite bands, ones which I have spent a lot of money on after.
I watch films online, however ones that I wouldent pay to see. It is piracy, but they arnt losing out on anything.
" @MAN_FLANNEL said:*raises hand*" Yes, I don't buy music anymore. "Anymore? Most people haven't bought music since like, 1997. "
For the most part, I try to avoid piracy for 2 reasons: 1. Once I got a virus from something I downloaded and I had to wipe my entire damn computer because of it. That was a pain. and 2. It makes my Internet and Xbox Live connections suck. Oh, and it's illegal.
However, I will admit to downloading the ROMs of a few specific Japan only games for the SNES which I would not otherwise be able to find in any capacity, and I probably have some software from when I did torrent stuff still on my computer. But otherwise I can say with confidence that I don't pirate stuff... anymore.
it's hard to pirate anything but music with DSL , the 187 kb/s DSL.
every time i pirate something i feel guilty because i don't want to be one of those "examples" who gets sued for one million dollars because i downloaded one song
