Badass. I'm totally all for this.
Mega Man 10 Blasting Onto WiiWare
" Still want a new X game. I don't like Mega Man as much as the X series. X-X4 were amazing. "Yeah man, I need X9...SNES style. X-X3 were exceptionally good titles with GREAT music as well!
Sheep Man..? Really?
This whole old-school Mega Man thing is a cute idea in practice but the fact of the matter is the games are dated as hell. This is not the direction Capcom needs to take with Mega Man. Instead of simply saying, "here play this old game instead of our shitty new ones", Capcom should focus on making Mega Man games a viable franchise again with some interesting ideas and new concepts.
Okay, the five minutes of Jeff Gerstmann cursing was just awesome.
I know your pain, man. I know it very well, but I still laughed.
Alternative Theory: There's no console in front of Jeff. It's just an empty room and Jeff is holding a controller cursing at nothing. The "room-mate" and game sounds are edited in to coincide with Jeff's hallucinations.
Ahh so many memories... So many comments to reply to, I'm not even going to try listing all the commenter names.. "Mega Man" is a series that transcends generations. X, Legends, Zero, Battle Network, etc. all have their place but Mega Man stays true. As far as I'm concerned it is the origin of modern the action/platformer. Difficult to the point of frustration, but worst case I'm only back to the beginning of the stage I failed. The feeling of joy when you dominate a robot master using the perfect weapon without resorting to a FAQ. Wily and his ridiculous super-bosses (I wrecked that thing with the top spin! The top spin!!!!). It's cutsey in its own way, difficult in the way only gamers can appreciate, and of course the music... Keeps me going through the stage, then brings a little calm when I fail miserably.
Now, I agree that 6 games on NES was too much, 7-8 were good but seemed like they tried too hard to reclaim the original feeling while pushing for the more X-like graphical style. Some time away from the original 8-bit MM format was needed. Now he's back and in force. I say 9, 10, maybe 11 at the absolute most then let it ride. Give me new movement patterns, new level paths (MM6 anyone), and give me back the best dog ever. Then call it a day until the current-gen'ers come clamoring for "retro" again.
Oh and all you who love to ridicule Brad.. Watch that New SMB Wii QL again. Watch as he tries to play real co-op only to get pushed around by Jeff/Ryan, then watch as he masterfully dodges bullet bills while everyone else gets trounced. It may take a few tries, but I'm confident Brad could wreck Mega Man 10.

"They still make new Mega Man action games (see the ZX series for a recent example). Even so, these retro sequels don't get by just on their retro-ness. Mega Man 9 game design sadism perfected, taking prettty much design element that made the original NES games so freaking hard and putting them all together. There's solid, fun, challenging game design there; it's not just a case of "lolz look at our 8-bit Mega Mans!!!1"
I, for one, appreaciate that Mega Man 9 beat me into submission. It wouldn't have felt natural if I was able to whiz through it.
Well, that video looks like the reaction of most players of "I Wanna Be The Guy". Wonder if the guys have ever subjected themselves to that self-induced torture of a game...
No, Endurance Run of IWBTG is not a good idea for the sake of the guys' sanity. They will want to track down Kayin and personally gut him after five hours.
This is the happiest news I could have gotten today.
Also, didn't they already do some sorta sheep/ram + electricity boss in like command mission or one of the battle networks?
Fucking sweet, this announcement makes today a good day. Mega Man 9 is my favorite game of this generation, so I will happily anticipate another game.
Oh, and sorry Jeff, that video is still funny as hell, but I understand the pain; that's kinda what I was like my whole first playthrough of the game.
I came, several times in quick succession.
I'm just gonna go out and say that I didn't think megaman 9 was that hard either, it was fair in that it introduced you to all it's level specific mechanics (like chopper bots grabbing you and carrying you off in one direction with the only control you had was to jump) in a safe place before it using it in a situation where it could kill you, and you could buy energy tanks pretty cheaply to.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go wipe off my screen.
I couldn't beat Mega Man 9 because it was so hard. But I'm all for a Mega Man 10. Maybe I'll give 9 another shot and try to beat it.
Mega Man 9 was a damn cakewalk, I don't understand why people have so much trouble with it, there is always a pattern to Mega Man games, figure em out and it will become a cake walk to you too, I beat Mega Man 9 2 hours after buying it, then I beat it in 48 minutes to get the under an hour achievement, easy peasy of a game and 10 will be just as easy, unless they cover the levels with fucking spikes like those damn special levels of MM9, fucking weaksauce.
I LOVED Mega Man 9. It is my second favorite Mega Man game, and thus I simply CANNOT WAIT for Mega Man 10.
It was cool for the first time with Mega Man 9, kinda nostalgic throwback. But Mega Man 10? Really, Capcom? Really?
" It was cool for the first time with Mega Man 9, kinda nostalgic throwback. But Mega Man 10? Really, Capcom? Really? "I feel the same way.
Can't wait for this! I will admit that I never got past wileys castle in Mega Man 9 but only crazy people did that.

"You are such a tool.
" It was cool for the first time with Mega Man 9, kinda nostalgic throwback. But Mega Man 10? Really, Capcom? Really? "Well, I'm not complaining since I'm a big fan of Mega Man. But I see your point. Though I think it's ok for the devs to use whatever graphic engine they want. The 8-bit Mega Man games are great, that's why they keep making them. Same reason Mario, Halo, Tekken, etc, are still on the devs board. Sure, they could have used a newer engine, but I still think the 8-bit is the best for this game.
" @Knives: WTF does that even mean or have to do with what I posted? Or are you one of those people who says stupid random shit? Or maybe you're just weaksauce at MM9 and wanna take your problem out on me? Or maybe you have a small wang? Or maybe a big giant vag? I dunno. "If Mega Man 9 is easy, all games are easy. If Mega Man 9 is weaksauce, all games are weaksauce. The fact of the matter is most people find Mega Man games to be hard. The fact of the matter is that Mega Man 9 is harder than 99% of the games released this generation. Spare us your pointless commentary on how easy it is.
I'm really pleased to see this and as lame as it is I'm glad there's an apparent easy mode so I can at least go into hard mode having an idea of what levels are asking of me before being thrown into a pit of spikes.
I have no problem with Sheep man either, though that could just me being Welsh. I like a nice dose of silliness from my robot masters.
I've always loved it when people complain about X company milking a franchise (like Mario Party). People want something, the company provides it, they make money, and this is bad.
MM9 is the hardest game I've ever tried. I can NOT get past anything but that damned galaxyman level. Awesome music, great gameplay, but ultimately a testament to my utter lack of memorization skills for platformers.
Ha I read this and was confused...then I looked more closely at the picture and laughed so hard. I want to cite examples of other robot masters that are equally as ridiculous as "Sheep Man"...but they're really pushing it with that hahaha. I can't imagine the weapon you would gain by beating him." Sheep Man... Seriously... Sheep Man... "
There were bosses based on animals before, like Snake Man...but there's the threat of potential death when you're dealing with snakes. Even Toad Man is a more menacing concept...some toads are poisonous I guess. But Sheep are fluffy and dumb as hell. I'm just baffled really...I'll still end up buying it though. Classic Mega Man will always kick ass regardless of whatever dumbass enemies you'll have to fight along the way.
Edit: ok apparently you get "Thunder Wool" after you beat him? Ok, Capcom were really laughing their asses off when they came up with this one. In regards to Sheep Man possibly being an homage to Philip K. Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?," well that's just funny as hell. That's the book they based the movie Blade Runner on, if I'm not mistaken.
I'm excited for this! MM9 was amazing. Those of you who hate it are vaginas or didn't grow up with the NES. it's actually CHALLENGING remember that? That's the beauty of it. It makes you feel like a badass when you beat it, because you know there are a bunch of other people in the world that will never beat this game. Play Ninja Gaiden 3 and you'll really know a challenge.
