Gaming can be expensive. I just realized that I stopped buying Lego at around the same time that I started playing games. When I was a kid all my spending money went to Lego, and as a teenager it all went to games. I started to wonder what kind of stuff did other duders spend their money on before they started blowing it all on $600 consoles.
What did you spend your money on before you were a gamer?
Music..I'd buy a shitload of CD's and also Posters of like weird things
like fairies or owlz stuff like that..but I never had to much money
before I got a job which I do not have anymore..therefore
making me broke I cant even buy weed unless its like
a holiday or I got lucky..
There was a time I did stop buying games. I spent, and still do, money on comics and records (Vinyl kids!).
I never really bought anything partially because I didn't have much money at the time and mainly because my parents bought me most of my things (which isn't much). I never bought CDs or games since I've always pirated stuff over a 56k modem. Being older and somewhat wealthier now I buy my own things now.
Wars, mostly. I was just so bored that I looked at a neighboring country and said, "You know, I don't think they're blown up enough."
I've always been a gamer, ever since I was old enough to hold a controller. So I've always spent money on games, it's more recently that I've been spending it on other things, like petrol and computer components.
" Music..I'd buy a shitload of CD's"Mostly this...but now I barely even listen to music.
This concept is foreign to me. I buy other things in conjunction with video games, though. There is an Amoeba Record about an hour away from my house so I'll buy rare and out of print records, CDs, and DVDs. I'm really just a media junky.
" @TheMustacheHero said:Nah man, Legos. That's what I called em' that's what I call them now." Legos. "Lego* "
I've played games since the age of four, but the majority of money spent on me went to comic books and action figures. I still have them all mwahahaahaha
" My wife. But then, I realized games were more important. So I bought her a nice suitcase, to keep her remains in. "YAY for Vidja gaymes!
Probably Lego for me...
Well, "before I was a gamer" was when I was younger than 4, but I didn't play a ton until I was 12ish. So before 11/12ish, I bought a TON of action figures: Batman, Spider-Man, Star-Wars, G.I. Joe, etc.
Lego! Sweets! Collectable card games of some sort (Yu-Gi-Oh! springs to mind) and just general toys for children since I was a child back then!

my blood [would've been] on your hands.
What money? I was a kid and I didn't get an allowance. I don't even know how I got the money for the games back then.

" Legos. "and yes, I also pluralized it/them.
I was like... 5, so nothing. Well, actually, I bought a shit-load of candy in junior-high. I remember - at the end of one summer - tallying up how much money I must have wasted on candy. It was about six hundred bucks.
" Before I was a gamer was very young, I didn't even get pocket money from my parents. "
