Well, I think it's cool that my nearest arcade (Nickel City, 15-20 miles away) has an NBA Showtime machine, a free play Final Fight and Virtua Fighter 2 machine, a Metal Slug 2 machine, and a Simpsons Arcade machine. What do you love about your arcade?

It's got a huge Street Fighter 4 setup with a monitor displaying the current fight and then next to the Street Fighter 4 cabinets are Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Tekken 6, and King of Fighters 12. Many tournaments happen there

Oh, and the same Nickel City also has a modded In The Groove 2 machine, which is pretty sweet.

My local arcade (Sunnyvale Golfland) may not be my favorite, but it has most everything I need in a pinch. Aside from having all the popular fighting games (Street Fighter IV, Tekken 6: BR, 3rd Strike, MvC2, CVS2), its the rhythm-gaming selection that stands out. Currently, SVGL has the latest versions of GitaDora (GFDM), DDRX (though I doubt they'll upgrade to X2 as DDRX went over so bad) and Beatmania IIDX Sirius.

But there's only two games that make me take the 20 minute drive down to Sunnyvale, aside from the SF4 competition..

Sadly, I haven't been able to frequent arcades on a regular basis since the mid-nineties (I live way out in the boonies).  But what I loved about that one then was the Super Baja Racing machine with four wheels, the Mortal Kombat machines, Simpsons Arcade, and a WWF Royal Rumble game that sucked way more dollars out of my pocket than nearly any other arcade game.

My favorite arcades are in Vegas.  That almost seems like a no-brainer.  I once saw a Terminator 2 light gun game there, projected to a display about ten by twelve feet.  It was all sorts of badass!

I live in a seaside town. We have loads of arcades, all of them crappy. Theres not a fighting game in any of them. Back in the late 90s there was about 10 ssf2t machines in a row in one of them but now its all slot machines

Wtf. That's amazing. I would love to try one of those out, but the only arcades around my town open and close in a matter of weeks.

Arcades in my area have been dropping like flies. The only major one left is a Gameworks, and I love it because it has a F-Zero AX booth

Seriously, the only arcade machines I ever see are at bowling alleys, and they comprise of some racing games and time crisis.

You obviously don't have a reasonably sized arcade near you, I suggest you visit one some time, also for the record Time Crisis 2 is THE shit.

So whatever they have there..

There's an amusements near where I live, but the only videogame they have is Super Hang-On.
Now that's retro.

I completely agree with the comment about TIme Crisis, I love it and play it a lot. However in my 18 years of life I think i've seen one arcade with proper games machines, that was in central london.  I don't think the UK has arcades like I see in the movies.. our "arcades" seem to be full of time crisis, house of the dead, racing games, ddr and the ones that steal your money (the ones you put 2p in to try and push more 2ps off.. yeah those). Never have I seen street fighter, pac man or metal slug in one of them. Bad times.

We used to have a really awesome arcade place but it closed down a couple years ago. Everything was only a nickel except for a few machines. Now, there is nothing except Mr. Gatti's which doesn't really count.

The nearest arcade to my house is a one hour drive. It's in the Toronto's "Pacific Mall", and has some really bad games. Except for Guitar Freaks, DDR, and some Korean DJ game, all other machines are pretty much garabage. There is a Capcom vs. SNK machine, four or five House of the Dead machines, four Time Crisis machines, some Alien arcade shooter machine and a Tekken 3 machine.
But me and a bunch of my friends go there at least once a year, and play through one of the rail shooters and hit up some DDR.

It runs on Nickels instead of Quarters and all machines are less then 3 for the most part, plus the game selection is great, and the free section isn't bad.

We have a Gameworks and a Dave and Buster's near.  They are fun, but pretty expensive.  There is also a really old crusty arcade down by the pier with a line of skeeball (sp?) and a ton of air hockey tables, but nothing new has been added in years.  Hell, probably decades.
