El Shaddai is the closest I can think of. Its not that the game was underwhelming based on the hype (like I would say Rage or Catherine were), but it was completely forgotten by the press once it was released.

The game was released in a time when even the GB crew was complaining about the lack of games; and besides being mentioned once by Patrick in the podcast, it was never touched again. Its a shame, since the game ain't bad (not great either, but pretty decent) and it should have seen more attention from the media...

Anything on DS. Ghost Trick, Radiant Historia, Monster Tale, Okamiden, Mass Attack; another awesome Kirby game that probably sold for shit, and an awesome DQM game that like 5 other guys probably bought over here.

A lot of DS games got lost in the shuffle this year. I would say Solatorobo was probably the one that got the least attention. At least the others (except for Radiant Historia) got a Quick Look.

Crysis 2. Such a forgettable game. I had fun with it, but I couldn't tell you anything that happened in it.

Killzone 3. Damn good looking game. Bad ass trailer got me pumped for that game. Then meh. Forgot that game even existed until they mentioned it on the goty podcasts. Then I thought, "Oh yeah, I own that game.... Man"

That game had a terrible story. Was very disappointed.

Why? I mean the ISA (USA) won. And they killed about every single last soldier on that planet... and every single last civilian, men, women, children, infants. I mean since they're the good guys, that's a good thing, right?

Genocide count ISA 1:0 Helghast.

Infamous 2, in my view. The first game sold pretty well and had very positive critical reception, but it seems like it barely even got noticed this year. Even on this site specifically, the bomb crew mentioned Infamous 2 in basically only one podcast (and briefly made fun of in another), and the first was the one where it competed for attention with Duke Nukem Forever.

A lot of really just forgotten stuff in 2011. It really felt like the year of "A lot of interesting shit is coming out but no one really seems to be impressed."

Tactics Ogre: LUCT

Not surprising considering it was an SRPG for the PSP and a remake of a game that was on the Super Famicom.

Its a shame though since it has probably one of the best stories of any game i've ever played.

If it makes you feel any better, the game is probably one of the most influential games in the genre,

If that's true, the strategy-RPG genre is fucked beyond repair. Tactics Ogre was a terrible game. Boring, uninspired, archaic gameplay that is completely outclassed by games in the same genre from over a decade ago on inferior hardware.

@QuistisTrepe:

I said influential; I said nothing of the game's quality. Yes, there are better games in the genre, but Tactics Ogre helped pave the way for even better games to come. Oh, and the PSP version fixes A LOT of what was wrong with the original, like the lack of camera control and the horrible translation.

RAGE was what instantly came to my mind, it seems to be a favourite. I played battlefield 3 for like a day and then immediately benched it for Skyrim, so yeh.

Someone mentioned Duke Nukem, i think given its decade long build up it's gotta be right up there.

@BisonHero: Little Big Planet 2, Bulletstorm, Killzone 3, Infamous 2. Mostly PS3 exclusives, which makes me sad that people didn't talk about them more.

Tactics Ogre was originally released in 1995.

I think the gameplay holds up pretty well for a 17 year old game, and the storytelling and characters in the remake put most modern games to shame.

I dont know what the hell your comparing it to but damn dude, I think you just dont like SRPG's.

You really can't say that, as (from what I've heard) the remake includes enough changes to make the original product a distinct entity.

@QuistisTrepe:

It wasn't clear to me; I thought you were referring to the original SNES version. Why else would I place so much historical significance on it? It's hard to name remakes that have had as large a role on the industry as non-remakes.

I agree with Alice madness returns, even I forgot about it when I did my own top 10 list for the year, even though I remembered really enjoying it at the time and it probably could have squeezed on there as number 10.

Wow, I followed gaming pretty closely this year and still forgot about a bunch of the games in this thread, which is the point. I think this just shows how games were very iterative this year. Killzone 3, Resistance 3, AC: Revelations etc... all of them are quality games, but none were that memorable.
