Kirby's adventure was the first game I ever legitmately beat without using some sort of cheat codes. I never owned the game but I remember renting it and sitting down to play it and a certian point i realized holy crap... I'm really far into this! Before you know it I was at the end boss. It was king Dee Dee Dee! or well... at least the game led you to believe that. In reality the end boss was uh...some weird slime orb thingy? It was totally bizarre now that I look back at it. Also, I have no idea how my 10/11 year old self managed to actually beat that as that actually looks kind of hard now that I'm watching the video here. I do remember getting really anxious and nervous that I was going to screw it up. Somehow....I made it through and then the end credits popped up and I was so happy. I had tried dozens of times to beat other games like Super Mario 3 or TMNT 2 but never could seal the deal so when I was able to actually finish Kirby I was pretty surprised.

Hey, what do you know you can actually finish video games! It was an exciting time. A feeling that I don't feel to much anymore beating a game now days isn't so much a matter of "IF" you can but rather if the game is entertaining enough to finish it. And I get it....games are much more mainstream now and you wanna keep people coming back to your game. So, you guys have to have some cool stories, no? I'm interested in seeing what everyone's first games were. Also for those interested video of the end boss below.

I remember beating Super Mario Bros. 3 and Tiny Toon Adventures on NES, I'm not sure if those were the first games I ever beat but I know they are some of the earliest games I had ever completed. I kind of wish they could get some of the licensing issues out of the way on those old NES and SNES licensed games because some of them were great and I wish I could get them on virtual console or something. I would almost kill to get a legit download of Rescue Rangers on the NES.

I know I could get ROMs but it just doesn't have the same feeling.

Star Fox 64... but that game is so short that I'll say Super Smash Brothers.

The Disney games up until after the SNES/Genesis days were amazing. I really liked the Darkwing Duck game as well as the afformentioned Rescue Rangers , Tail Spin and of course... Duck Tales.

Duck Tales was probably one of the best games on NES ever. I really wish Capcom could find a way to get the license again and release those old Disney games.

I didn't own or get to play very many NES games (maybe 10 or so)and I know I didn't finish any of the NES Mario games until All-Stars. I remember being really sad and jealous that my older sister could beat both Super Mario Bros 1 & 3.

The first game I owned on the Mega Drive was a terrible game named Jewel Master and I know I finished it once, but I'm not entirely sure it was the first game I beat. It was probably Sonic, I remember finding that game really easy right out of the gate. I have a feeling that probably has something to do with how hard all of the games I owned up to that point were.

I think it was the Mighty Morphin Power Ranger game for Sega Genesis. I loved that game and beat it a ton of times.

I want this game again.

Pretty sure it was Vigilante for Turbo Grafx 16. I would've been like 5 so it's hard to say for sure but I distinctly remember saving the girl on some construction beams.

I remember when I beat that final boss after days of trying. God damn, that boss was hard for 5-year-old me.

I have no idea what the first game I beat was, though.

I initially thought Super Mario 64 but then I remembered, technically, my friend was the one who beat the last Bowser fight. I think we were passing the controller back and forth and after my friend beat him I didn't bother beating him myself, at least not till many, many years later, so I don't know if that counts. The next game I finished was Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, I believe.

Miracle Warriors for the Master System. Somehow Super Mario World was too much for me, but that labyrinth of a game was manageable. At least until I had to go fight the final boss.

I... I dont know. Wierd. My first console was an Atari 2600, but I cant think of a game I owned that was beatable. My first NES game was Mario Bros, but I never beat that. I honestly cant think of what it might have been..? Now I feel like a JRPG character with a mysterious past.

I remember having the Atari also, and I don't think I ever beat a game for it. I did play my neighbor's NES a lot, but my parents wouldn't let me have one until the SNES came out. I had an original Gameboy though, so I'm sure it was that really weird Mario (Marioland maybe?) game that they released for it. That game was really hard though. Then it was Super Mario Land for the SNES and then Super Metroid. Speaking of which, I think I'll play through Super Metroid again tonight after work!

Puss N Boots. Stuck with me as one of the first NES games I remember thinking was too easy.

The next thing I remember beating was Mario 2.

I was playing stuff like Zelda and Mario 1/3 more than any other games, but they kicked my ass too often. I think I put in Zelda as my save game name, since the game was called Zelda and ended up being like 6 and playing the hard mode. I don't think I got through world 8 in Mario until my uncle showed me how to do the infinite lives glitch.

Either Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Secret of Mana, or A Link to the Past. I started on the NES, but the games I had were too hard for how young I was. I might have finished my dad's old save on The Legend of Zelda on NES first, but that doesn't really count.

I almost never beat games, neither now or back in the days, unless we count short arcade titles. I do recall finishing the first (shareware) episode of Blake Stone in 1994 or so. Since that was shareware, and the full game had 3 more episodes I'm not sure it counts. After that I don't think I finished a game until Command & Conquer or Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom circa 1998.

Mine was Kirby's Adventure as well. I remember specifically having a lot of trouble with Nightmare's orb form. It's all fun and games until he starts throwing 4 stars at once.
