Kirby's adventure was the first game I ever legitmately beat without using some sort of cheat codes. I never owned the game but I remember renting it and sitting down to play it and a certian point i realized holy crap... I'm really far into this! Before you know it I was at the end boss. It was king Dee Dee Dee! or well... at least the game led you to believe that. In reality the end boss was uh...some weird slime orb thingy? It was totally bizarre now that I look back at it. Also, I have no idea how my 10/11 year old self managed to actually beat that as that actually looks kind of hard now that I'm watching the video here. I do remember getting really anxious and nervous that I was going to screw it up. Somehow....I made it through and then the end credits popped up and I was so happy. I had tried dozens of times to beat other games like Super Mario 3 or TMNT 2 but never could seal the deal so when I was able to actually finish Kirby I was pretty surprised.
Hey, what do you know you can actually finish video games! It was an exciting time. A feeling that I don't feel to much anymore beating a game now days isn't so much a matter of "IF" you can but rather if the game is entertaining enough to finish it. And I get it....games are much more mainstream now and you wanna keep people coming back to your game. So, you guys have to have some cool stories, no? I'm interested in seeing what everyone's first games were. Also for those interested video of the end boss below.
