That's tough.... Legend of Zelda, Chrono Trigger, Shadow of the Colossus.... there are a lot of games with very memorable soundtracks... all time favourite would probably be either the Zelda series or Chrono Trigger though... maybe... :)
The Hitman series has a lot of good music in it. I'd also say that the Guild Wars and any other game where Jeremy Soule has helped create the soundtrack is just awesome.
No. I can't pick one. So I'm going to post a huge list that is completely out of order:
Shadow of The Colossus (Wander and the Colossus- Roar of the Earth) Final Fantasy VI-IX Original Soundtracks Final Fantasy VI Grand Finale Any misc Final Fantasy Concert CD (more friends, etc.) Chrono Trigger The Orchestral Game Concert series Lost Odyssey Metal Gear Solid series Silent Hill series The Darkness (No official soundtracks but I've found game rips.) Alone in the Dark (The recent awkward current gen game had a fantastic soundtrack.) Halo trilogy Castlevania: Symphony of the Night! Devil May Cry has some good tracks among it's soundtracks. Recently I've been listening a bit to FFVII: Crisis Core, there seems to be some excellent music in there. Like what I've heard from both Bionic Commando next gen and Re-Armed. Oh, and Braid's music is amazing too.
Shadow of Colossuus GTA series Halo 1 Darkness Rock Band 2 I dont know there hasnt been a truly epic game soundtrack for me yet but biggest movie soundtrack has been Dark Knight followed by Wanted I would like to see them work on a game soundtrack.
I liked the ambient music of Fallout 1 & 2. I've got both CD sets.
Also incredible was the techno music of Star Control 2...It was ahead of its time. You can get remixes of Star Control 2 music on the web as well as the game for free (google it).
just that one metal song that kicks in every time you fight.
nah but seriously, Oblivion, GTA4, Bad Company to name some recent favs. Braid soundtrack is pretty good, it suits really well to the games art design, and sounds appropriate when you start rewinding time.
I have over 200 video game and anime soundtrack CDs, so, it would be impossible for me to pick a favorite or even a top ten favorite since I love a good many of them! :D
halo and dude kotor WHY WASNT KOTOR MENTIONED BEFOAR?!?! oh and the crackdown theme tune was awesome to hear while you were just sruising around at nighttime
I like classic video game music. I can't think of any games that have come out in the past 10 years where I've liked their original music. Yeah, gta usually has good music but that's not the same.
My favorites are Mega Man 2, Super Metroid and Mega Man X. I play Mega Man X mainly for the music.
