Best Metallica Song?
Hard to say, anything from And Justice could be considered the best song ever(by them).
Metallica is one of my top 3 favorite bands of all time and therefore theres no such thing as Best Song ... theres no such thing for any good band. metallica has over 70 songs that i consider favorites.
" @jonnyboy:It's worth a listen. Considering they don't have the same mindset and life experiences that they did when they wrote their first four albums, a "return" to form isn't expected, but it's in the same category as the black album - thrashy enough to make you want more, with enough simple pop hooks to land the mainstream crowd.I havent listened to that album(nor will I). I was refering to the mention of "fuel" as one of the best songs."
I was annoyed that they advertised it as a return to form, using all the really awesome riffs in the promotional stuff, then the actual songs ended up having those riffs nestled in a nice little pile of new Metallica hard rock.
Im honestly over them at this point. I doubt I will buy anything new from them.
" I have to say Wherever I May Roam. That song just has an energy to it that I love. ""And she keeps me satisfieeed"
" Im honestly over them at this point. I doubt I will buy anything new from them.Re-load, sure, I'll give you that. But load, imo, was pretty good (especially King Nothing and Ain't My Bitch). I don't care for DM, and while I will definitely not change the station when it comes on the radio, I won't listen to any of it or download it anywhere else. And St. Anger, well, let's not go there.I hate the newer stuff so much. I grew up with the old stuff. I waited in line for hours at midnight to get Load just to be let down. I remember thinging to myself "what the hell is this?". Then I did it all over again for re-load. Sgt. Bad-mastering I didnt even bother getting, I borrowed it and gave it back the next day.Meh, its too late. I have found bigger and better. No need to go after a sub-par version of a band I liked. I will enjoy the old stuff, but I will leave the new stuff to others that maybee didnt have as high of expectations as I did."
Honestly, I think Load and Reload are their best studio records, but that is the era that I started listening to them so maybe I am biased. My jaw dropped when people listed "new" metallica songs =/
Hero of the Day, Battery, and Bleeding Me are my big 3.
I would have probably said Stone Cold Crazy, Whiskey in the Jar, or Tuesday's Gone in there but I didn't consider covers for the purposes of this thread.
Creeping Death, Ride the Lightning, and One (especially the music video featuring scenes from Johnny Got His Gun) are probably my favorites.
" Hangar 18.<_<>_> "Dude your my fucking hero!
Whats the best Megadeth song you posers!
Leper Messiah, Ride The Lightning, Fight Fire With Fire, Creeping Death, their cover of Am I Evil by Diamond Head, and Welcome Home (Sanitarium).
Of course, I like a lot more than just that. But those I tend to listen to more than others. Ride The Lightning is my favorite album by them, followed by Master of Puppets and then ...And Justice For All. The only albums I don't own are Kill Em All and St. Anger. But I like Kill Em All from what I've heard.
For Whom the Bell Tolls is my all-time favorite.
And anyone who hates Load I think should listen to this, it's not metal, but it's fucking amazing:

Nice pick though ; )
" @sgjackson said:Their thrashy stuff is still good, I just never got into them as much as Metallica's thrash. We're going to ignore both of their sell-out periods for the sake of this conversation. :V"@Bucketdeth said:Your a Death fan but you like Metallica more then Megadeth : (Nice pick though ; ) "" @NukeSpoon said:Tornado of Souls. As far as thrash goes, though, I'm more of a Slayer/Sepultura/Kreator kind of guy. Love that raw, death metal-esque edge they bring to the table.

Oh and about the bands selling out, Megadeths "Sell-out" Albums are a lot better and less "Sell-out- in my opinion, just listen to TIme:The beginning from Risk, great fucking song, but I understand where your coming from.
