Thinking of starting a new series and wanted to see what everyone’s thoughts were, and needed some help. I am a broke college student, but I still love to play great games. While moving, I found my Xbox 360 and a few games and got an idea. I loved my Xbox and I know I missed out on a ton of great games. It seems like a great way to play some amazing games, without the time constraints of the next big release. I was curious what everyone's favorite 360 games were?
Broke Gamer
I gave my 360 away a couple of years ago but Bayonetta and the Forza series were up there as the best games I've played on the console. Ace Combat 6 was my most favorite game on it. I love the Ace Combat games and back then I played though the newer ones like dozens of times each, so I'm hugely biased about them! They had amazing music for its time certainly.
Beside those, I also played Rez HD, Fable II and Halo 3 and Halo Reach and Vanquish. All of these were good games.
The 360 had an all-time great linrary. One of the best (counting non-exclusives.) Like the list above doesn't even mention the Gears or Mass Effect trilogies, or the Call of Duty games, or any of the MANY other great racing games like Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing, Blur, the Dirt series etc....
Then you bring in XBLA and games like Shadow Complex and Bastion and Outland, not to mention simple games like Geometry Wars and Poker Smash...
It is a huge library with dozens upon dozens of truly excellent games. This will be a relatively easy series to find content for. Plus a lot of these games are backwards compatible to Xbox One so still arguably relevant to this gen.
My quick and dirty list -
- Halo 3: ODST
- Borderlands (Borderlands 2 is also good)
- Puzzle Quest
- WWE All Stars (no joke this game was super fun)
- Crackdown
- Condemned: Criminal Origins
- Warriors Orochi
If I had to recommend any of them over the others, I would say that one of my favorite games of all time, let alone on the 360, was Condemned: Criminal Origins. I love that game. Also, WWE All Stars is also a super fun arcade game that, unlike WWE games that try to be more of a simulation, goes all in on over the top action and game play. I checked online and all of these games can be had for 5 dollars or under, except for Borderlands which is hovering at about 10.00 and WWE All Stars which seems to be between 15-20 dollars for some crazy reason. Puzzle Quest is an XBLA game, but all the others are on disk.
I also devoted a lot of time to Mass Effect 1-3, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Of those, the first and second Mass Effect are probably the ones I remember most fondly, especially that first game in the series.
- Alan Wake
- Gears of War 3
- Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved
- Project Gotham Racing 3
- Forza Horizon
- Halo: Reach
- Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (it includes the original Escape from Butcher Bay which is the one you want to play)
- Syndicate
There are so many games in the 360 library it really won't be hard to find good stuff at a reasonable price point.
Super Meat Boy is one of my favorite games I've ever played! :D Mark Of The Ninja is also really good ^_^ you can get games like The Darkness 1 & 2 for really cheap, Fable Anniversary is really fun to if you're looking for older remasters. Also if you have a Microsoft 360 hard drive there are a hand full of good OG xbox games you good play! Like Crimson Skies and Ninja Gaiden and the updated version Ninja Gaiden Black ^_^ sorry if this is a little scattershot, I was just thinking off the top of my head ?
