Dark Showers?

Dark shower?! How do you people not just fall over, tear the shower curtain down, and knock every bottle and soap bar into the tub? Do you bioluminesce?!

I did that once out of necessity. Not only was there a power outage, there was not hot water. So I had a really refreshing cold shower in the dark.

I feel like I would injure myself. But I like the concept.

My shower head has built-in, colored LEDs, so dark showers are super rad!

I have a weird thing of not liking to take a shower until everyone in the house is gone.
So I'm all alone when I'm shower. And I get really afraid of ghosts when I'm showering alone, a dark shower would horrify me.
I don't even believe in ghosts, but I close my eyes and then I start to get all like "yeah, but what if what god damn if" and I get all scarred.
So, let there be liiiiiiiiight.

Before hitting that part of the podcast I used a 3 in 1 body wash/conditioner/shampoo, AND TOOK A DARK SHOWER

I do when I have a really bad migraine. Helps to relax. All dark and warm and the white noise from the running water.

Any time I shower at night, it's going to be a dark shower. They're so relaxing and soothing.

Yeah I like one too. I am a barista and I work really early sometimes so I like to put the light hardly on (have one of those dials) and take my shower to get me going when I'm up super early. Helps me convince myself it's not 5 am.

I dunno. I already have soap bottles slipping out of my hand and banging on my foot with the lights on. I couldn't manage...

I have all-weather LED Chrimbus lights in my bathroom, so most showers are lights-off/string-lights-on.

Haven't listened to the Bombcast, but I assume this has to do with showering in the dark? If so, every chance I get. Very relaxing.

Only if there's a window, which I suppose defeats the purpose. But a low light shower in the morning, I can dig that.

its kinda like going for a night swim. you dont know where you are, but you brush up against something..fleshy feeling. whats that? you dont know. and you like it.

@bill_mcneal: Yeah, basically it's just taking a shower with the lights off. I really enjoy it. I get that some people wouldn't, though!

I tried taking a dark shower once on a whim. I did not want to do that again. My concern is that I did not want to slip and fall in the shower. The apartment I lived in did not have a window in the bathroom and was pitch dark.

Never done it but I might try it. Sounds different. I tried to take a bath in the dark once. But there are was too much light coming from under the door.

I once had to take a cold shower during a blackout when the hot water was off, in an empty apartment. It's a little unsettling...

Only had to do it out of necessity when we had a power outage. We still had gas, so the water heater was still good, however. Haven't intentionally tried it.

This is like that time they talked about drinking cold beers in the shower and it turned out largely disappointing.

@humanity: How much time is a person spending in a shower that they can consume a cold beer?

After I come home from running and take a shower I like to drink one of those tiny cans of vitamin drinks straight out of the fridge, but thats mostly because I'm thirsty but also soaked from sweat so I want to take care of both situations at the same time. My showers last about 10 minutes so it's enough time to wash and drink those 220ml.

I like me a dark shower every now and then, as long as there's a slither of light coming from the moon, or a good twilight. I wouldn't do it without a shower window.

I think a better question is how long does it take you to drink a beer that a shower isn't long enough for one.

I can barely keep my balance standing on two feet OUTSIDE the shower. I feel like I'd fall for sure if I tried that.

I don't understand, I mean OK I get it if you have a window like Rorie, but my shower will be pitch fucking black, and I have to reach to the door to turn the light off.
All in all it seems like a bad idea.

I used to come home from a night of drinking and jump in the shower for two hours sleep in the stall....my "friends" would find me and invite all the other co-ed suites to watch me.


I regret nothing!!!! Those 2 hr steamy showers when drunk were the best hangover preventer.

That sounds more impractical to me. Everyone else would be taking up all the water and soap. I can still get shit done in the dark.

I'm afraid to google that, but if you're talking about showers with the lights off, yes, I do it every night. I have the door open with light streaming in from my bedroom, so it's not pitch black. But "dark showers" are very relaxing. Helps me unwind from the day.

Yeah, totally! I've been in my shower, like, a few thousand times now. I know where my shampoo is, and sometimes you need the solitude a shower brings.

The concept of "dark showers" sounds super compelling, but knowing how I carry myself in general and how small my bathroom is, I'd probably trip getting out of the shower, crack my head on the toilet and bleed out before anyone could get to me.

That said, I take steaming hot hour long showers in the first place and love the HELL out of them. Totally agree with Jeff's comment on a bombcast or two back when he said the water has to be just hot enough to where it's slightly uncomfortable so the cleansing fire will clean your soul, or something to that effect.
