Yeah, I say the same thing about all the heavy metal artists I love. Lamb of God, Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, but of course not enough people love them in order for them to win a grammy.
Eminem robbed again
" Oh you mean he wasn't physically assaulted and mugged? Too bad. "I agree, the title was a cruel mislead.
The Arcade Fire are amazing
Oh wait, it's cool to hate on Eminem now?
I'll join the pathetic hatewagon in a second then :D
My god am I glad I can't think for myself.
Dam. I thought this thread was about someone breaking into his house and robbing him. Boo on you for bad title making.
Oh wait, it's cool to hate on Eminem now?Meh, Recovery wasn't amazing, to be fair. Not terrible though. Average is fair I think.

Recovery is the most commercial album eminem has ever made, and it sucked, so Im glad it didn't win album of the year
" @brandoncooper17: Before they played they said to leave during the song. The Arcade Fire are amazing "This. The Suburbs isn't as good as Funeral (proving to me that popularity is important to the Grammy voters), but it was better than every other nominee this year.
Eminem's album shouldn't even have been nominated. Grammy's nominate all of his albums because they don't know shit about hiphop and don't intend to learn. Fact is if you listen to hiphip regularly there are glaring ommisions on the Grammy list this year. And if you don't, you go "hey I liked Eminem's single from 5 years ago with the crazy fan gotta support white rap haters gonna hate I think for myself".
Grammys is all about familiar names. Eagle Seagull basically made a better Arcade Fire album last year than Arcade Fire but that's not a name people throw around. Grammys hasn't entered the 21st century yet, they still listen to the radio to get an idea of what the kids like. And if your music doesn't make it on the radio it might as well not exist as far as the Grammy committee is concerned. They're not like the Oscars, they don't go "we awarded a big movie last year, lets give everything to some British period piece nobody will ever see".
" Who cares? It's just a gold, gramophone-shaped pat on the back. I don't understand why some people only enjoy things if they can somehow validate their opinion via condescension and references to critical or popular acclaim. "You don't understand the purpose of awards?
Arcade Fire won best overall album, but it didn't win in it's genre category... What?
Supposedly a great album, though.
I didn't know eminem was still a thing.
Also, as far as the grammys go, I think Weird Al has the best take on it. From his twitter:
No, I'm not at the Grammys today. Even better:http://twitpic.com/3zgrax
" Arcade Fire won best overall album, but it didn't win in it's genre category... What? Supposedly a great album, though. "That happens a lot. Its like "best screenplay" at the Oscars, you throw a bone to something else even though it doesn't make any sense for the winner of best picture to not win best screenplay. And Black Keys got popular enough this year for the Grammys to give a damn about them, so they threw a bone.
" @Hexogen said:I do and I don't. I understand people like to congratulate other people for doing something noteworthy, and that's why they give out awards. But awards are not definitive, so I don't understand why people get upset when their favorite artist doesn't win or isn't nominated. A Grammy is just the collective opinion of some people at NARAS, and I don't see the need to get so worked up over someone else's opinion." Who cares? " Yessir. The true travesty here was that Big Boi wasn't even nominated! Fucked up shit. "This!!!
I'm a big fan of Eminem, but I'm not sure what he was robbed from? Was there some kind of award show in the states or something I missed?
Award shows never mean much to me, if you're a big fan of them, keep buying their music. It probably means more than whether or not they win some trophy or not.
OP seems to be on his own here.

" @VilhelmNielsen said:Not really the same. Best Picture doesn't necessarily have the best script." Arcade Fire won best overall album, but it didn't win in it's genre category... What? I see your point about throwing a bone, but it kind of defeats the purpose of the categories. If you make the best music out of ALL categories, you should make the best music in your category. If not, it's not really the overall best, is it?
You're giving this more thought than you ought to be. Its just politics. The real problem with the Grammys is there's not really a more legitimate contemporary to it. Golden Globes are a joke, and by being such a joke they legitimize the Oscars a bit more. Music could use something like the Radio 3 Bucky Awards, but not region specific. I'd be fine with there being like 5 legitimate music award shows divided by genre line. For people who like country music, for example, the CMAs are way more legitimate than the Grammys. Not every genre has that though." @ryanwho said:
