How many fingers do you type with?

On my right hand I usually only use my thumb for the space bar, my index finger and the middle finger and on the left hand I only use my index finger, I have never noticed how retarded that is, and I should learn how to type properly, any advice on a good program for this?

If done properly, I can use all 10 fingers. But thats never going to happen.

Im not sure I never thought about it, I guess while im typing this now, im only using my middle finger on my right hand, and my index and middle finger on my right hand.
Crap, now I think I have bad typing habits. :(

I type with all of them.  That is just how I was taught.

Usually 7, sometimes 8 or 9.

Rarely 10 - that's usually reserved for faffing around with the number pad.

I use the index, middle, and ring finger on each hand. You're an elitist if you use a pinky.

Oh, and my thumbs. :P

Two, at all times. My right index and my left middle.

I haven't even thought about how many fingers I use to type. To be honest, all ten of my fingers are on the keyboard somewhere, so all of them are contributing in some shape or form. The pinky fingers tend to be on the Caps Lock/Shift Keys, and the Enter buttons, respectively. Both thumbs are on the space bar, and the remaining fingers rest on the keyboards, in an awkward and incoherent pattern. All of it does manage to come together in a very quick and fluid typing motion. I recall taking a class in middle school that required "proper keyboard typing", which was absolute bullshit.

I looked at this post and was like "wtf is there any other way then with all ten fingers?" then I relized how much of a pompus asshole I sounded like in my head. but yeah all 10 cause I had classes in middle school. But I do love being able to touch type it makes me feel surperior in at least one way....*SIGH*

I type in the proper way, so I use 9 fingers and I use my right hand thumb to press the space most of the time instead of the left.

All nine, alternating between thumbs for space bar. I took a class but I think I typed that way before then anyway.

I only type with my middle fingers, so 2.

I only have two fingers. I don't even really have arms, they're just like 2 giant fingers.

I use 8. I never use my thumbs. It's just easier to move my hands down to type. 

I normally only use 8. I think as I'm typing this I'm counting and it's 8

All ten. If a space comes after a left hand key stroke, I use the the left thumb on the space bar. If a space comes after a right hand key stroke, I use the right thumb on the space bar.

I use all eight or nine considering the space bar. I use my left thumb for the spacebar....dont thin I ever use the right thumb...

I typed this message with two fingers, really fast hunt and peck style.

I can also type with all ten fingers, but I can type so fast with two fingers I usually don't bother.

Well I am typing this using all all fingers except my pinkies. My ring finger[s] the further keys, and my index/middle fingers do most of the work. Of course my thumbs are usually placed and used primarily on the space bar. I can type 100+ words a minute and keep mostly-proper form without looking at the keyboard. Since I type in such a hurried pace I often have lots of errors and either backspace all the way to the them or manually fix them.

I'm pretty sure I type with all of my fingers...except maybe not my right ring finger.  It isn't the "proper" way to type, technically, but I can type relatively fast without looking at the keyboard.  I actually learned how to type playing World of Warcraft, so if you're having trouble with all the other methods, you could always try that...

9, apparently. Just tested then - I use all the fingers on my left hand fine, but as for my right I very rarely use my pinky and ring fingers (mainly for using the spacebar and backspace key), never my middle. Maybe I should go back and learn to type again. :P
I'm fairly fast at typing but could definitely learn to be faster at least.

Wait, scratch that and make it eight, I don't use my right thumb either. Tried to use it then on purpose and it felt really awkward.

Index, middle and thumb for both hands. I don't think when i use the spacebar, any of those fingers or either hand could press it.

I use all ten fingers.

I don't use my left thumb at all, and I rarely use the right pinky.. so usually 8, sometimes 9. It's kind of weird, some fingers are selective for some keys, like my left pinky is exclusively used for 'A' and 'Shift'. Because maneuvering it up to the 'Q' is really awkward for me, I just move my left ring finger up there. Plus, how often are you typing 'Q'.. I mean, really?

Before Grade 9 Business (AKA 'Get A Credit For Learning How To Type in High School') class I think I used 3 or 4 total.. shows the wonders the All The Right Type program can work.

I suck at typing too... Well I guess I use probably 6 fingers on average.

I use most my fingers on my left hand, depending on where the key is I need to hit and I use my Index adn thumb on my right.

I use all of my digits. However, I tend to use my left hand thumb for the space bar over my right hand thumb.

Oh snap! Here I thought I used ten but I actually only use 9. I don't use my left thumb haha. I dont do that whole keeping your pointing fingers on F and J thing, they tried to teach me that in school but thats retarded lol.

Typing this responce I'm finding that I'm using mainly my middle fingers, my thumbs for spacebar and my left pinky when i'm pressing SHIFT.
In my computer classes I was taught to use all my fingers and if required I can do it, but I'm more comfortable doing it my way.

I learned to type in school, so I always type properly.  At least 60 words per minute.

I thought I used all 10 but while typing this, I realized that I only use 3. My two index fingers and my left thumb for shift. Weird....

Index and middle fingers are my primary typing fingers.  I use my right index to hit the space bar, and my right pinky to hit the enter and shift keys.  I initially was gonna say I don't use my ring finger for anything, but as I was typing I discovered I use it to backspace.

I use my left index finger and right index and middle finger. I'm a pretty fast typer too, especially considering I only use three fingers.

My job requires me to be a fast touch and ten-key typist, and I'm pretty solid.  That year and a half of word processing in junior high paid off!

Never really thought about it but I type with all of my fingers.
