IGN's "Top 5 reasons Dark Souls will eat Skyrim's Face"...Really?
I find this article to be completly ridiculous and biased
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/119/1196353p3.html
I did not play Demon Souls but I really enjoyed hearing everything said about the game and the difficulty, that being said this guy goes off on Dark Souls saying that it will completly destroy Skyrim. My Favorite part is the category of "DLC and Pricing":
"Skyrim has DLC planned ranging from $10-$15 and the standard edition of the game will be $59.99"
"Dark Souls has no DLC planned and the collectors edition will be $59.99"
Dark Souls Wins...What are your guys thoughts from people who have played Demon Souls, I suggest you should read this article I would really like to see what Giantbombs comments are on this.
That article title sounds exactly like something that IGN headline generator would create. So I guess that means they really are getting their article ideas from it?
This is literally a result from that IGN article generator and its written by Casey Lynch.
I'm pretty sure you all just got trolled.

So...IGN is a shit website. Nothing new.
I take it you didn't read the article in its entirety. This is almost as grand as the MW3 v BF3 fight raging for First-Person Shooters this November.
@C_Rakestraw: That headline generator is god damn hilarious. What makes it more funny is that I can totally see them being real articles on IGN.

Holy shit that's a great generator.
"Is Street Fighter a FIFA for adults?"
"What Red Dead Redemption could learn from Wii Fit."
"Why Kinectimals will step on Infinity Blade's face." and "Why Dark Souls will love Splosion Man's face."(holy shit, these two are almost exactly like the real one)
EDIT: I LOL'ed on this one "Should Skyrim be set in Canada?"
"What Call of Duty could learn from Guitar Hero." Actually I believe that could be a lot, like not releasing too many games and oversaturate the market for example.
I can't stop generating...
That's exactly what I thought, haha. That article title sounds exactly like something that IGN headline generator would create. So I guess that means they really are getting their article ideas from it?

I won't read any top 5/ top 10 list of any kind in its entirety if bullshit websites separate the list in pages just to buff their page views. It's even worse when there are ads in between like in IGN.
I loved Demon's Souls and I know personally I'll probably play Dark Souls more than Skyrim, but this article is dumb. IMO, comparing the two games is like comparing one badass supercar to another. No matter which one you choose, you still made a damn good choice.
In the past, I tried to defend IGN, but they got annoying even for me. It had nothing to do with the reviews or anything. It just felt as if the articles/editorials had taken a huge dip in quality and the people working there didn't really put any passion into it. It felt as if they were just doing a job, like they came to work to collect a paycheck and that's it. I know that's really unfair of me to say, but that's just what it felt like to me personally. Like I listen to the Bombcast, Podtoid, Weekend Confirmed, Invisible Walls, Rebel FM, etc and you can feel their love of what they do. They're knowledgeable, they speak with energy, they sound like they're having fun. You listen to an IGN podcast and it sounds like they're just reading off of a list. It's hard to explain. I'm sorry for going on this stupid rant too, I just had to get it off my chest lol.
I'm all for IGN wanting to help get the word out about Dark Souls, but all that article seemed to do was make the commenters dislike the game because Skyrim was compared unfavorably with it.
I don't know if I'm losing faith in the gaming public for not wanting to try something new, or IGN for being stupid enough to make an article like this.

You do realize half of the Rebel FM crew is/was employed by IGN, right? And they've both admitted they had the exact same mindset on IGN as all the other idiots until they started working there and saw it was just a bunch of guys/girls who love games.
@BabyChooChoo:
My sentiments exactly.
There has to be a more finite reason as to why things have gotten so bad. As Jeff said during this years PAX panel, the majority of IGN hits come from people using google, and for that reason the content on the site has to be of a broader nature.
But fuck, there seems to have been a sharp, sharp decline in quality recently. Maybe the Murdoch buyout has affected things more than expected?

IGN trolls the gaming community and they keep walking right into it...
THIS so can everyone stop fuckin posting storys from IGN now!
It was funny a couple of times but now I'm getting sick of reading about this shitty website on Giant bomb with all the troll and flame bait that it brings with it making this website have a fishy troll musk to it.
STOP IT I SAY. THANKYOU SIR!
I can give you an exact date of when I lost my respect for IGN. http://xbox.ign.com/articles/383/383421p1.html January 22, 2003
"The finely sculpted DOA girls truly set a standard for how good characters can look in videogames"
"There are women in the real world who look like the DOA girls" yes that is a quote.
"The fact that every character in the game is showing off plenty of flesh never became irrelevant even when I was locked in a close match where every bump, set and spike was crucial."
"Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball wasn't attempting to do too much more than put the voluptuous DOA girls on a beach playing volleyball. That's what we were given, nothing more, nothing less." Score? 9.2/10

Actually evaluating that thing as a game and not a softcore porn simulator is pretty weak.

You're saying that their impression of IGN improved once they were picking up a paycheck there? That seems inevitable, doesn't it?
The people who work at IGN could love games more, and more deeply, than anyone has ever loved videogames but that doesn't really excuse the state of their website and the content produced for it, does it? Good people make bad products every day.
I never said any of this.
That response was to his claim that the writers there are just in it for money and that the Rebel FM guys are different when in fact they are the same.
I couldn't help but laugh as soon as I saw this on their front page. I can only imagine the flame was they generated within their community (I dare not look at the comments).
@dagas: That review was written 8 years ago and Aaron Boulding hasn't worked at IGN for over 5 years. Why do you still care?

Is casual games a hardcore games for adults?
How screen resolutions could increase Imagine: Babyz's popularity.

I know, I said it. I made it a separate paragraph to avoid confusion. Huge success?
You putting it in a response to me kinda implies it, no? Whatever...heres a cat:

I read the entire thing and was essentially trolling on quite an epic scale. It seems as if IGN is trying to start a flame war between fans of both games. The story has about 3100 comments the last time I looked. It also seems that they were suggesting that true hardcore gamers should prefer Dark Souls because of the unforgiving difficulty and everyone who liked Skyrim was too mainstream. The comments of the story ended up with an 80-20 split in favor of Skyrim, with the other fans calling out the Skyrim fans over how much more rewarding the challenge of Dark Souls was. Personally, I am getting both games, but I am looking more forward to Skyrim because Oblivion is my all-time favorite game.
