Lars Von Trier gets kicked out of Cannes. Good Riddance.

Now when it comes to movie directors, I consider Lars Von Trier as one of the biggest douche bags I have ever seen. He's the guy who thinks that making a film where Charlotte Gainsbourg jerks off Willem Dafoe  until he bleeds is art. He thinks he's the greatest "artist" on earth. But man, this time, he's taken his douchebagerry to a whole new level:

He's made som cool movies, and other than that I don't really care.

I turned that on, listened to his first few comments and watched Kirsten Dunst's face. I literally do not think I can finish that.

The guy was rambling while trying to make a few jokes, the video clearly shows the crowd laughing and how he realizes it didn't go over so well. I mean the Israel bit was clearly a joke. I cant believe they banned him from the festival because of it. Appreciating the work of Albert Speer and understanding the motives of Hitler are nothing to get angry about. He of course should have watched what he said but people need to lighten up a bit.  It seems a gross overreaction to ban him.

As a director he is both visionary and influential

Love Kirsten Dunst's looks off screen, she wants out of there so bad.

When I first read about this, I was really annoyed about it. However after seeing this video it is clear that he was joking. It was a very tasteless and poorly implemented joke. However he was joking. Plus after seeing Kirsten Dunst's face I think whatever consequences he suffers are worth it.  

And they laughed at Mel Gibson when he said Jews run Hollywood.

This man appears to be incredibly stupid.

Put me in the 'I don't give a shit' category.

Lars Von Trier is a fine filmmaker and this is just embarrassing; both for Von Trier in failing to be funny and for Cannes for taking it super seriously. Still looking forward to Melancholia.

You're right about Cannes. They take themselves extremely seriously which makes it funny when films like Pirates of the Caribbean premiers over there. They hate popular films

He deserves it for ever making Antichrist. It was possibly the most uncomfortable and thoroughly disturbing piece of cinema that I've ever had the displeasure of watching.

Not really a fan of his work, but actually watching that video, I see that it wasn't so much a case of him losing his mind and going on a pro-Nazi slant in front of the press as much as it was him getting distracted and saying quite a few things he really shouldn't have said. More a case of momentary stupidity than real offensiveness, if you ask me. I can totally understand Cannes' decision, though, they would definitely want to cover their asses and distance themselves from him because there are definitely going to be people who take it all at face value.

Times like these make me proud to be danish!

I never really understood the fuzz about his movies, but I think he is an interesting person and he has quite a history for making bold statements, even tough he mostly does it for the PR effect of it.

That guy is kinda dicky, and while I don't think I've even seen any of his work, I've read enough about Antichrist to know that he's an insane person, too.

Umm he's Danish of German descent.  There are 50,000 Germans of Danish descent in Denmark and his family is part of that heritage.

I don't know if he's being genuine here, I feel like he is just attention whoring like he has been his whole career. Look at his resume, no one gives a fuck about his movies other than AntiChrist which people only watch for shock value.
