I've been thinking lately about how crap kids tv is at the moment and how great it was when I was a kid.
I remember those good old days and I feel sorry for kids nowadays that they don't get to see these classic programmes.
I made a list of those I used to watch and think fondly of (these are mostly Australian):
Ship to Shore- Only the first series...Hermes rules
Round the Twist- Only the first couple of series..."Without my pants"
Lift Off- Mr Fish was always funny "No *blank* in the foyer"
Bananaman- "When Eric eats a banana, an amazing transformation occurs"...it got me to eats bananas
Bananas in Pyjamas- To continue the banana related shows..."Trrust me, I'm a rat"
Johnson and Friends- Toys coming to life has been done since but no one has done the talking waterbottle (Alfred) again
Tintin - I have watched it since, it's timeless
Superted- I still want to know his secret word
The Trap Door
Blinky Bill - Longest intro song ever
Victor and Hugo: Bunglers in Crime
Widget the World Watcher
The Ferals/ Feral TV - "Are you Joe King?"
The Wayne Manifesto- I remember the rubber hammers and the one where Squocka eats the chicken and pretends they're witchetty grubs
Amazing! - The maze run was the best
Vidiot - My older brother remembers this better than I do...Oh Eden Gaha, where are you now?
Art Attack - It was fun watching the big art attacks and guessing what they'd be
Couch Potato- Bring back Grant Piro, he was so funny
These shows were great when I was growing up and I think they should bring them back.
Surely I'm not the only one who thinks this...am I?
Shows you watched as a kid
I don't recognize any of those except for Bananas in Pajamas, which I was never fond of. I don't think it came to Norway until I was too old. We have a show everyday at 6 PM simply called "Kids TV", which most children watch regularly. It's usually hosted by an adult, whom shows off videos from various series like Sesame Street and Thomas the Tank Engine. Everybody watched that until they got old enough to appreciate Cartoon Network and similar. I didn't really appreciate any of it, I just liked the flashy imagery. The Wind in the Willows confused the heck out of me. When I got older, I got some favorites, like Tom & Jerry, Dexter, Honk Kong Phooey and so on.
I always grunge when I see one of those infant-centered TV shows, like Teletubbies or Tweenies. Just because they're kids doesn't mean they have to watch shows without any meaning.
Batman/Superman
Pokemon
Tiny Toon Adventures
Pinkey and the Brain
Digimon
Doug
Ren and Stimpy
Rocco's Modern Life
Angry Beavers
and many more

"Batman/SupermanOh man yes, along with:
Pokemon
Tiny Toon Adventures
Pinkey and the Brain
Digimon
Doug
Ren and Stimpy
Rocco's Modern Life
Angry Beavers
and many more
"
Captain Planet
Dragon Ball Z
Beyblade
Courage the Cowardly Dog
Arthur
Rugrats
The WIld Thornberrys
Gummi Bears
Methinks this should be in OT. I used to watch all sorts of cartoons with ludicrous amounts of violence in them (Tom and Jerry, Ren and Stimpy).
"Batman/SupermanAll these, but also Hey Arnold! And Aaahh! Real Monsters.
Tiny Toon Adventures
Pinkey and the Brain
Doug
Ren and Stimpy
Rocco's Modern Life
Angry Beavers
and many more

Usually whatever was on Nickelodeon or Disney Channel after school along with The Simpsons. I never watched much of those Saturday morning cartoon shows.
Only a few of my favourite shows from back in the day were cartoons.
Also we never had cable tv, i don't think it was around at the time (in Australia at least)
Doug, care bears, lots of different shows on disney.
I can't remember them all, sorry, it was a long time ago :P
Are there any Aussies here that remember the shows I listed above?
God...I feel old now for some reason
Yes, I am an aussie and I remember those shows.
I kinda also grew up with alot of 80's shows as well. I remember going to grandma's place during the holidays and since she lived so far away, we had to rent Weekly videos so mostly 80's stuff like Back to the Future and Robotech. And I remember a "Cheez TV" used to show the 80's Inspector Gadget for some reason.
"In Denmark we have a show called "Disney Show". I used to watch that every friday. XDWe had that in Sweden too :P
"
Thunder Cats was something I never missed when I was younger too.
I reminisce about the days when the ABC had the best childrens TV. But I also remember that channel seven had Saturday Disney and I loved shows like Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin, Duck Tales, etc. (there were a lot of duck related shows when I was young).
I still remember the tune to Darkwing Duck, that was probably my favorite show from the Disney Hour.

I thought about Rugrats and Pinky and the Brain and stuff like that when I did my initial list but then I decided that they weren't as ingrained in my childhood as the others.
That being said Power Rangers was great, I can remember running home so I could watch it. How many kids shows today have that effect?
Also why don't they show Tintin anymore? That show was great and it's timeless. It might be because it might be considered a bit rasist nowadays, with stuff like the Japanese all having big buck teeth and doing the "R" and "L" speech thing, but I never noticed things like that as a kid...
