SO..... I just blew my mind. Black site version.

I have been coming to this website for a long time. I think when I started watching was when they just moved into whiskey media.

Today, in fact just now, I asked some kind folks in the secret GB chat (I will never reveal its location) about a fabled black version of the site.

The good folks pointed me towards the two "A" things in the top right corner. I never knew these existed. I somehow blocked them out.

I make this post in the hope that some of you will discover the black site for the first time.

Join me. Come to the dark side. The black side. It is oh so pretty.

I remember the first time I stumbled into the dark side. I was so full of joy. Such a profound moment of utter peace and joyfulness.

I was actually really curious if there's a way it can stay that way with some account preferences or something... I have Firefox forget everything and clear its cache every time I close it, so I'm not willing to stay logged in, but it'd be nice if it could be a savable preference.

The black site is essentially the cool side of the pillow.

Wait. Wasn't the black version the default? I could have sworn it was the default, and I had to toggle it to white, because I hated black with white text websites.

I cannot even imagine going through this site with the white layout. Only time i've seen it is when Alexis and Dave were showing the redesign and they didn't have the dark version implemented at the time

This actually makes me real sad to think most people have been using the white site this whole time.

I've been using the black site exclusively forever, the white site hurts my eyes... as pathetic as that sounds

Dude. I honestly had no idea. I saw some post the other day and was like "why does that guy's page look so different than mine". I felt alone, and scared.

I converted to white a looong time ago.

It was the default in the old days, they changed the default to the white one with one of the last major redesigns of the site.

I could be the antichrist, but I like the white more. Black is a little disorienting to me.

It's amazing. I feel so refreshed. The "cold side of the pillow" analogy is perfect. The amount of time I spend staring at this website and these forums.... all that time it could have been black instead of white.

you know, for the longest time I resisted, I think I turned dark like 2009. Less strain on my eyes.

I've never NOT used the black version. I can't understand why anyone woulds use the white one. Black site rocks!

I legitimately do not understand why the light version of the site exists. It's awful. So bright! It hurts mine eyes. Never used White other than the occasional lapse of cookies or on new browsers, and it's only ever one load, and the first thing I do is switch to the dark version.

When my mom comes in the room I quickly switch back to white, but when she leaves its straight back to black baby.

Wait...does that mean the white site is the default? When did that happen?

EDIT: I decided reading and answered my own question.

Black site leaves white streaks in my vision when I move on to non-"black w/ white text" sites, so I avoid it. White site is more friendly to people visiting for the first time, too, so it's clear to me why it's the default. Black sites are kinda early-2000s. Actually, the white of the white site is pretty savage, as well. Basically what I'm saying is my eyes are offended by bright things.

Ohh my god!! I just stepped into the dark side for the first time. I knew that button did something but I never knew what it was and I forgot about it. Thank You for reminding me, it truly is another dimension.

Personally I wish we had text colour options as well. I'd rather have red text on black, like I did for tweet deck for years. Also kind of wish it was a darker black.

You need F.lux or some equivalent.

All right all right. I've been a light pallet supporter since the site redesign, but you all sing such high praises of it... I'll turn to darkness.

This is how crazy the white version of the site looks to me. It's literally THIS crazy.

I would use the black site template if not for the white text burning itself into my eyes after reading for a few minutes.
