On many of my other forums Linkin Park is a hated band that no listens to. I listen to it, and I get a lot of **** from a lot of people for it, but I was wondering what you guys here on GB think of Linkin Park?
I personally think they are a great band. I own both their Meteora and Hybrid Theory Albums and I think they have some good songs on them. My favorite songs include Runaway, Crawling, Faint and Hit The Floor.
What are your thoughts on Linkin Park Giantbomb?
I have always liked Linkin Park, but I think they have taken a rough turn toward Pop music with their newest stuff. It's like they realized "Whoa, Numb is being played on all sorts of radio stations, and that makes more people buy our stuff." So they made there next CD have 2/3 of the songs sound like Numb. Minutes to Midnight isn't really a bad CD. It is just that I would much rather have a CD like Hybrid Theory.
I think that you slightly hinted at this, in that you didn't mention anything after Meteora. I approve.
So, I give a thumbs up to Linkin Park, but I could care less about the pop style direction they are taking themselves in. I want to hear more of the heavier stuff, which I'm sure you would agree with me on, especially since Hit the Floor is on your list there.
i like linkin park, hybrid theory was the first cd i ever bought , i listened to that thing like crazy. I didn't much care for their latest cd though.
liked their old stuff their because it was unique don't like there new stuff make them sound so non unique and they gone emo samo
Listened to Hybrid Theory the other night out of a longing for some nostalgia. Man? What a great fuckin' album. XD
haha, linkin park. They were badass when I was a child, but I grew up. Some things are meant to be left in your ignorant childhood years.
I used to listen to them quite a bit a while back, but not so much anymore. I think Hybrid Theory was one of the first western CD's I've bought (I'm into j-rock a bit... actually I'm into rock in general).
I like all their albums so far, true the last one was a bit less rock, but I like the fact that they arent afraid to experiment.
By myself, What I've Done and My December are probably some tracks that I remember the best.
" The mix album with Jay-Z was their best work. . "For sure.
They have made some good music, but a lot of their songs run together. They kind of have two sounds; songs with and songs without Mike Shinoda. But I won't lie: I've five starred a bunch of their work on itunes.
I loved that band, their old stuff was terrific. Sure you couldn't really understand what Chester was saying half the time, and Mike's rapping may have been dodgy at times as well. But overall, they had a truly unique style that you could readily identify. Especially since every other music group just wanted to copy someone else's style. Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, and Meteora are all wonderful albums. Too bad they made Minutes to Midnight and then became something that was barely what they were. Sounded like everything else you hear on the radio with the exception of one or two songs.
Will Linkin Park return to their original style? Not likely, they've all grown up and have families. They no longer have the edge and grit they once had. It's only natural, I suppose.
They have the same appeal as Limp Bizkit. Good when a young teen but when matured it clicks that they're not good.....at all
i still like them , don't listen to them as much as i used to but the cd's still get there amount of time in my car and on iTunes :D got all the full cd's ( yes even collision course :D some even twice for the special editions :) ) and some merchandise stuff,
i can remember playing Spyro the Dragon with Hybrid Theory on the background :D ( 2 years between the releases of the cd and game but didn't play Spyro when it was released :) bought it later on when expending my PS collection ) when i listen to Hybrid Theory now i still feel the urge to play Spyro :D prolly going to buy it on PSN soon :D
grtz Allen :p
They're my favourite band, pretty much got me hooked into music. I was and still sorta am a big fanboy over Linkin Park. To be perfectly honest my username says for itself that I'm into LP. I thought 'Meteora' sounded cool and I listened to their first song on that album, though its pretty much fact that Hybrid Theory was their best work. Their latest work is alright, but pretty generic and mediocre (though people might say that with their original stuff). I kinda wish they went back to their nu metal roots; or go in a general direction of "New Divide" which was in Transformers 2.
Hybrid Theory was cool, The Jay Z album was pretty good.
Fort Minor is the best thing about Linkin Park, Mike Shinoda is pretty awesome.
hate all i have is pure hate towards them. sorry. just hate them hope they all get their throats ripped out :D
I like their older stuff. Their new stuff, not so much, apart from "New Divide" and "What I've Done".
used to be well into linkin park.... kinda grew outta it but
i seen them once in dublin when they where backing metallica....they got fucking bottled to hell felt really sorry for them lol
This takes me back to my "know it all" days in elementary school where I watched their songs off Yahoo! Music. Minutes to Midnight is for a new generation, so I can still appreciate them in everything prior.
They used to be my favorite band, but i moved onto better Harder metal :) they're still ok, but their latest album was terrible
Their first 3 albums were good, the last one they made was horrible. The problem they have is matching the quality of the first albums, it took them a long time to get to Hybrid Theory, and that same effort can't be replicated, not in the same way anyway. Mike S is a talented guy though in both music and art and that also goes for a few of the others aswell.
