What is your favourite Star Wars game?
But what about you? There were some atrocious Star Wars games, but if you're here, you must've liked some of them. What's your favourite?
"I'm with you, Outcast was awesome."outcast was the shit
Outcast was indeed my favorite Star Wars game. When Jedi Knight: Academy came out things just weren't the same online in terms of fighting balance. Most of the hardcore players seemed to vanish or stay in Jedi Knight II, or leave all together. Probably some the most awesome times playing, and at my peak, before 2006 when I made this corny tribute video, I was tough to beat. Good times...
I haven't played Outcast yet. I didn't realize it was so highly regarded. I got Star Wars: Best of PC the other week, which has Outcast on it, so I'll boot it up and give it a go now I've heard so many people praising it.
As for my fave Star Wars game, I was a huge fan of Star Wars Battlefront II. I really enjoyed it. I'm probably forgetting another Star Wars game that I really enjoyed though.
Well, I'm currently playing through KotOR II for the first time, and it's enjoyable, although real-time action that has you hitting buttons to swing a sword or shoot will always be superior to turn-based combat for me. Despite that, I'm loving the vibe KotOR has, the game just screams Star Wars.
And about The Force Unleashed; is that game worth approximately 30 euros? I'm thinking about picking it up, loved the demo.
Rogue Squadron III: Rogue Leader...or was it Rogue Leader III: Rogue Squadron?...anyway that's the only one i've enjoyed.
I've definitely got to say X-Wing versus TIE Fighter. I'm a huge fan of space combat games, and that was one of the pinnacles along with the Wing Commander games. I'm hoping the genre can pick up steam sometime and become popular again.
I think the KOTOR games were my favorite Star Wars games, very ingrosing but Jedi Outcast and Academy were very good too
I also quite liked Republic Commando (it was nice playing from the clones point of view), I like clones they're nice.
Force Unleashed was good but it didn't live up to the hype, too frusturating in some levels.
Edit: I forgot about Star Wars Racer for N64 (or atleast that's what i think it's called), that was pretty good.
i gotta say i enjoyed battlefront II when it came out until i stopped playing it in 2007-2008 and its prob my favourite star wars game.
Revenge of the Sith on the DS. I suppose since it's a) a direct movie tie-in and b) something to do with the prequel trilogy, most people here probably think it's dross. But it's actually brilliant fun to play, and also corrects one of my few gripes with the prequel trilogy - not using The Imperial March for Anakin's attack on the temple :P
Jedi Outcast was probably my favorite, but its tough. KOTOR, Jedi Knight II, Tie Fighter, X-Wing, Rogue Squadron.... Quite a number of great Star Wars games.
KotOR is definitely my favorite (Though the sequel was... underwhelming). I also played a lot of Battlefront II a couple summers ago before I realized that better shooters existed (Halo).
Knights of the Old Republic... for me nothing beats Revan's story. What a great tale it is... :p
Though The Force Unleashed is a worthy second, since that game, despite its flaws gave a unique sense of what managing the force should be, Now infamous is out, prototype is next is line, and wolverine is staining his claws, but... force unleashed was one of the first games to really give a new kind of experience with the use of technology and imagination.
64 Squadron games kick ass in my opinion, but they are different from most other games in the Franchise, so I can't say I think they are necessarily the best. I've not yet played the KOTOR series, but I'd love to explore them further.
Story = KOTOR2
Combat = Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. I love the sword play in that game. That's the one thing the Force Unleashed was severely lacking in. The saber combat is just button presses for preset combos. In Jedi Knight you use the stick to do a wide variety of swings. There are no combos, you're just using the proper strikes for the proper situation. I enjoyed that alot more plus it feels like you're actually getting good at something and rewarded for it.
They should make a KOTOR3 where the combat is copy and paste Jedi Knight and everything else is KOTOR1/2 style.
