Will Microsoft stick with the Scorpio name at E3 2017?

I already made a comment on this thread but I had another idea I wanted to throw out there. What if they drop the 'One' from everything, re branding the Xbox One S as Xbox S, and then naming Scorpio the Xbox Elite (as others have already suggested).

It's still compatible with Xbox One games and accessories and still part of the same console generation, so I will say it will probably have "Xbox One" somewhere in the name. Xbox One Scorpio, Xbox One Plus/Prime/Pro/S+.

Oh that's cool! Not a bad name for a piece of hardware either. Yes the name is a Doors reference. "LizardKing" is almost always taken. So I asked myself "what's better than a regular ass Lizard King?" And here we are.

On a serious note, I hope they stick with Scorpio. It sounds rad, and it's been know as such for long enough that they probably ought to stick with it. However, they'll probably call it something cheesy/stupid instead.

I think it would be fun if they call it Xbox 5.

I think the sensible thing which people would understand would be Xbox 2017 (or Xbox 2018 because Microsoft).

But I expect they'll come up with something stupid.

I doubt it. It's definitely sounds like a prototype name, as opposed to a product name. I would expect them to rename it something that is on brand, like Xbox One S (Like the S model for the 360).

It's a really silly name that has absolutely no connection to the Xbox brand... so of course they'll stick with it.

They'll name it "The Original Xbox" to further their scheme to make it impossible to speak about the predecessor to the 360.

After that they will call the next one The Xbox 2001 to even further to make it impossible.

They better have a cooler name than scorpio if they don't go with scorpio.

@justkamtoo: They've been at it for a few days and a lot of "I Love Bees" type speculation surrounding it. The current guessing seems to revolve around an "Xbox 10 S" that'll retail for under 400 bucks and ship sometime in October.

Also, this recent development kit video has some interesting hints such as a possible "different" screen on the retail unit and the inclusion of the HDMI-in port.

EDIT: Oh, and the "Scorpio" will not have one extra gig of RAM available for developers.

i've seen arguments making the case that they'll try and integrate it into the new OS microsoft is pushing. that makes sense- i wouldn't be surprised if it's the x 10s or something.

They are definitely not reusing the "Elite" branding, for a third time, for something as important as this console refresh.

As much as I prefer Scorpio, because, let's face it, it's fucking rad (like most code names) I think it'll be something lame and focus group tested.

I don't think it'll be Pro because of the PS4. Elite is a good bet, but, I don't know, the word can have a bad connotation. Naming something you want to be very popular "Elite" seems a bad move to me.

I was thinking XBOX Next, but that fails to convey that it's only a half-step.

Numbering seems a bad move, because the ONE didn't do so well and it would be like "Hey, we failed. Here's the sequel!". Same goes for naming it "XBOX One *Something*"
