    Overview

Galaga Assault is a deliberately-retro sci-fi shoot-'em-up developed and released by Raw Thrills (in conjunction with Bandai Namco) for arcades on January 6, 2016.

Based on Namco's 1981 arcade game Galaga, Galaga Assault is a short-play video redemption game where players earn tickets by shooting at a wave of enemy ships (with a bonus mothership boss battle for additional bonus tickets). A unique feature of this game is that players can improve their firepower by adding more ships besides the main ship (similar to the original game's "ship reclaiming" mechanic) with additional credits. Up to 12 ships can be piloted at once (which can cover the entire battlefield at once).

Operators can disable the video redemption part of the game for a more traditional wave-based arcade experience (although the multi-ship mechanic can still be left on).
