Amsel is a German General, who appears in Call of Duty: World at War. He is assassinated during the first Soviet mission, entitled Vendetta. Reznov describes him as a creature of habit, due to the fact he inspects each Nazi garrison located in Stalingrad daily. This habit is the cause of his death, as during his inspection Reznov and Dimitri Petrenko kill him, as retribution for the massacre held in the center of Stalingrad.
Amsel visibly looks similar to Edward Richtofen, in Nazi Zombies. When attempting to kill Amsel he will flee towards his waiting Kubelwagen, and if you do not kill him in time he will speed off in the vehicle, causing you to fail the mission. It is possible to kill Amsel with a Walther P38 pistol, and in actuality you will be rewarded for this with an achievement / trophy. However, it is much easier to kill him using a scoped rifle, such as the PTRS-41 or Mosin Nagant you will encounter during the mission.
