So I apologize if there is already a thread about this, last thread on this board is from december and didn't see anything in general discussion about this. GOG.com is gonna reveal something next week and they are releasing some videos on youtube to hype it. One of the videos seem to reference Valve and the whole regional pricing thing, wonder what this new thing GOG is up to will be. GOG.com
Concept »
A digital distribution platform that focuses on providing DRM-free computer games, both old and new.
Good Old Games is gonna reveal something on the 27th (tuesday).
Two new videos are up. The latest one hints pretty strongly that they are gonna get newer releases on GOG. Man that would be awesome! I hope they get Ubisoft on this so we can get DRM free versions of their newer games... though I don't think that will happen. What newer games would you guys want on GOG btw?
Last commercial says that they're going to start selling newer games. So... yeah. Just like they said at the end of the year.
They're going to announce a Steam-like client for their games. Calling it.
EDIT: Also, some people are suggesting the announcement will be they're going to start selling newer games - they announced this ages ago. Last year some time. We already know they are going to start selling newer games.
I love gog

This is my guess as well.
sounds logical. imma go with this too.
They have been bought by CBS and now they are part of the CBSi family of websites.

I'm surprised this service survived.
They've really been bringing it with the games people have been asking them for. I've given them a pretty large amount of money over the last 6 months or so.
Also it looks like they're going to start releasing more new-ish games like The Legend of Grimrock:
It's not gonna happen, but i'd like to see them create a partnership with Valve and have GOG handle all the classic PC gaming deals. Reason i started using GOG is because Steam is real weak in that area.
@Mento: No joke. I've never actually played all of the games as a mage and would like to do so. It was mostly a paladin or a thief for me.

I love GoG, but they always hype announcements like this, and they usually end up being incredibly underwhelming.
If it's a new publisher, I really hope they get LucasArts. Monkey Island 3 needs a re-release, damn it.

So they didn't seem to announce anything, really. Just a slightly redesigned site that looks pretty much the same as the old one and maybe has a couple more features. Totally anticlimactic.
They dropped the Good Old Games name but kept the GOG acronym. They're now starting to bring in newer games to the service. They have Legend of Grimrock up for pre-order now for example. They also have Trine, Cryostasis, The Whispered World, Machinarium, and other semi-recent games on the upcoming releases list.
Basically, they're not going to be just about old games from here on out.

They announced that months ago, though. Yeah, they are actually doing it now, but I thought they said they were going to announce something new, not just follow up on a promise they made last November.

This is pretty good news... no bothersome drm for new games!
What is all this bothersome drm you're talking about. The only time I've even noticed drm in the last couple years is with Arkham City. When it's just steam how do you even notice let alone be bothered by their drm?
