Gran Turismo 5 is the fifth edition in the long running racing game series by Polyphony Digital. The game sports over 1000 vehicles, damage modeling on race cars, a dedicated television channel, lots of races, 16 player online multiplayer, and active weather.

I didn't filter out the GT300 cars, but I'd say just set the restrictions for the night as: choose any car from this list, don't perform any modifications apart from racing soft tyres and rigidity improvement, and don't clock in at over 515bhp. This would mean people could still choose a GT300 car if they wished, but seeing as it would be pointless to race a GT300 car if everyone's going with GT500s, it might be worth just restricting it to GT500s in the first place.
Everyone will probably want to go with a premium GT500 car, and it would be cool if we got everyone in a different car (at least in terms of liveries) to differentiate them in screenshots! I've got 5 or 6 of the premium cars with the necessary upgrades in my collection now for sharing, and my B-spec guy made another 5 million yesterday to spend on more if needed (I've kinda run out of things I want to buy for myself apart from these cars anyway!). If I'm remembering correctly, I can gift a Denso SC430, a Xanavi GT-R and Nismo Z, a Tom's Supra and YellowHat Supra, and a Raybrig NSX. I intend to use the Calsonic GT-R myself, simply because I like the livery, but all the GT-R's perform almost identically.

@LutonHatter: As far as I'm aware, yep, anyone can drive any car at any level - it's why people are sharing the X1 like crazy to help people burn through the game at lower levels. Would probably be a good idea for me to actually undoubtedly verify this before going ahead with this plan!

Taking some photos now. Little tricky to get good shots of everyone with standard cars but regardless, check this space.
Here's what I got. I forgot what a massive pain it is to take pictures without a rewind function not to mention that moving it the XMB and then onto a laptop can be arduous. No captions but I'll add them a bit later. Also; uploading many photos onto the forums are clunky. Need to think of a better way to do this.
On an unrelated note;
Conversely, I'm also really tired from driving it. I now require sleep.
Current Race Night: Race Night 5, Sat. Feb. 5th, 1pm PST: Night Before the Super Bowl Super GT
Next Sunday is the Super Bowl, you know what else is super? The Super GT series! We are doing Super GT on Super Saturday before Super Bowl's Super Sunday! We are using the Super GT cars of the GT500 class. These cars can be found in the premier car dealership for 900,000cr. They have between 475-500hp. The hp limit would be around 515 to account for hp increases. The lightest of these cars is 1050kg so that will be the lower weight limit. No mods are needed but remember to buy racing softs. Aids are off except ABS, TCS, and the driving line. We are using the same points system. False start check will be on, as is weak penalties and there will be reverse grids. Next week I have an idea to build upon Static's "automotive rivals" suggestion.
I wonder how many of us have a Formula GT. Would like to try a Formula GT series sometime in the future. Maybe Le Mans Prototypes as well.
One day until Super GT. Also, the Caterham Seven is is in the Online Dealership, people should pick that up for a future Caterham series.
Room is occupied for the time being so I don't think I'll be able to join tonight. That aside, have fun lads.
