Gran Turismo 5 is the fifth edition in the long running racing game series by Polyphony Digital. The game sports over 1000 vehicles, damage modeling on race cars, a dedicated television channel, lots of races, 16 player online multiplayer, and active weather.
@FrankCanada97: Yep, GT500. I figured it could be left open for people to choose a GT300 car if they wanted, but they'd obviously be at a disadvantage. I'd recommend putting a slightly higher-than-realistic cap of around 510-515bhp, due to fresh oil bumping up the horsepower on some cars (for example, my Calsonic GT-R is currently sitting at 504bhp after only 23km of racing with an oil change, so it'll probably go up even higher with more use). The lowest level required to purchase a GT500 car is 19, but you can drive any level car at any driver level, so I'm willing to buy and gift one to any under-levelled or under-financed people who need one.

I didn't filter out the GT300 cars, but I'd say just set the restrictions for the night as: choose any car from this list, don't perform any modifications apart from racing soft tyres and rigidity improvement, and don't clock in at over 515bhp. This would mean people could still choose a GT300 car if they wished, but seeing as it would be pointless to race a GT300 car if everyone's going with GT500s, it might be worth just restricting it to GT500s in the first place.
Everyone will probably want to go with a premium GT500 car, and it would be cool if we got everyone in a different car (at least in terms of liveries) to differentiate them in screenshots! I've got 5 or 6 of the premium cars with the necessary upgrades in my collection now for sharing, and my B-spec guy made another 5 million yesterday to spend on more if needed (I've kinda run out of things I want to buy for myself apart from these cars anyway!). If I'm remembering correctly, I can gift a Denso SC430, a Xanavi GT-R and Nismo Z, a Tom's Supra and YellowHat Supra, and a Raybrig NSX. I intend to use the Calsonic GT-R myself, simply because I like the livery, but all the GT-R's perform almost identically.

@LutonHatter: As far as I'm aware, yep, anyone can drive any car at any level - it's why people are sharing the X1 like crazy to help people burn through the game at lower levels. Would probably be a good idea for me to actually undoubtedly verify this before going ahead with this plan!
@Binman88: My Nismo Z (which I got as a reward car), with an oil change and 300 mile break in is at 525 hp. I only assume that most of the other GT500 cars are about the same.
@StaticFalconar: Yeah I noticed that in my garage as well. All my other GT500s are between 485 and 504 (likely to gain a little more with more racing), but the Nismo Z is sitting at 522. I'd be happy with people choosing to drive that car if they wished, and bumping up the horsepower limit to accommodate them (probably to something like 535 in case it gains even more... I realise the limit is kinda unnecessary, but I think it should be there just in case to stop people slapping a turbo on for an extra 100hp!). I didn't notice a huge performance increase with the laps I tried the Nismo Z on anyway. Others might be able to get more out of it, but my driving garnered almost identical lap times as the other GT500 cars I own. Same goes for the Calsonic GT-R compared with the YellowHat Supra. Both near identical performance on the track despite the 20ish horsepower difference. The whole series of cars seem fairly well balanced, so it should make for some exciting races.

I'm pretty sure this list is based off real life, but Lambo Diablo seems kinda out of place with nearly 600 hp and heavier, kinda makes me think either somebody made a mistake coding the specs or that team found some loophole in race regulation irl.

Ah I was wondering if it really was that high. I had seen specs posted in the GTPlanet forums and assumed they were after adding a turbo or final engine tuning. I guess it would be unfair to allow it in that case.
Here's what I got. I forgot what a massive pain it is to take pictures without a rewind function not to mention that moving it the XMB and then onto a laptop can be arduous. No captions but I'll add them a bit later. Also; uploading many photos onto the forums are clunky. Need to think of a better way to do this.
@FrankCanada97: Cheers. It's surprisingly hard to take interesting photos of cars especially if they're standard models as well. Never thought I cared too much for that. Regardless, after two hours of watching replays this is all I've got to offer. I'm sure Binman88 will drop a couple more to give it some variety. I have to say, my favourite is the photo of your Lotus Elan spinning past me towards the finish line. You should see the length of the smoke trail...

@eroticfishcake: That car was absolutely useless. Poor acceleration, low top speed and tail happy to boot. I barely hung on to control on the last chicane.
@FrankCanada97: I know we are doing Super GT this week, but how about for next week we do some kind of theme race of automotive rivals? Like Evos Vs STi, Mustang Vs Camaro, M3 vs whoever their rival is.

Next Sunday is the Super Bowl, you know what else is super? The Super GT series! We are doing Super GT on Super Saturday before Super Bowl's Super Sunday! We are using the Super GT cars of the GT500 class. These cars can be found in the premier car dealership for 900,000cr. They have between 475-500hp. The hp limit would be around 515 to account for hp increases. The lightest of these cars is 1050kg so that will be the lower weight limit. No mods are needed but remember to buy racing softs. Aids are off except ABS, TCS, and the driving line. We are using the same points system. False start check will be on, as is weak penalties and there will be reverse grids.

@KaosAngel: How could it be a surprise secret? All the stock Super GT cars are already maxed out and available. Unless you've found a Super GT car in the Used Car Dealership that outperforms all others.
