    I'll be 17 next summer. :(

Same goes for all mature games. I'm mature enough. I really am. I'm taking college courses this semester, and am a hard worker. This just creates a deeper hate for Christianity inside of me. They've got to be the biggest trolls in the History of man kind. Why do some people make great friends, but fucking terrible parents?

I'm 17 in a few days I never have a problem getting an M rated game though, I know some stores will sell them to me, if not my parents or friends will pick it up for me.

There rated M for a reason. Your brain is still matureing even though you dont notice it. I know some people are more mature then others but stores have to set a standerd and 17 is what ESRB thinks is right

I've really got to say the majority ignore ratings these days, you have to be one of the only ones your age wanting to play on it but not allowed.

MA 15+ in Australia.. So bad luck for you guys really :(

Although i'm 22 so it doesn't really apply to me, we did get a dumbed down version of the game which does suck!

If only they released an R18+ ESRB rating then real games can come out!

I'm younger than 17 and usually I play mature games. It's an interesting topic because the parents buying this stuff has to make sure there kid is right for it. For me I've always been indulged in fantasy and games so I have been used to being able to discern reality and fantasy. But, there are kids out there who really can't,it's really up to the people who understand the person before they buy it for them. I really don't think that ALL kids should be blocked off from this content because there are people out there who are better adjusted for these things than others.

I know a 12 year old who has this game, and he lacks the maturity to even look at such a thing.

As for me, I'm older than 17 so hooray for me.

I'm 16 but my parents trust me so I have been playing M games since I was around 12 or 13. Luckily I turn 17 in February so I will have a driver's license, a car, and the ability to buy M rated games without a parent.

    That^^ = Awesome.

I'm 15 and never owned at GTA game before, mostly because my mother was really against those games. So a month before GTA4 came out, I sat down with her and showed her all the trailers, articles on how videogames don't affect children, blah blah blah, and she gave in and let me get it, but not before assuring my father that she would blame him if I became a rampant serial killer.

I'm a bit worried about getting Gears of War 2 with her, she hated Gears of War and after about 5 months of me having it, made me return it. Worst case scenario I get my cousin to buy it for me.

I'm going to be 17 in 2 weeks which is pretty awesome.  The only thing that annoyed me was I've been getting M games since I was about 12 and now I always need my mom or dad with me to get an M rated game.  I have my license I don't see why I can't buy an M rated game.  I'm probably going to the store on my birthday just to buy an M game by myself.

I never had much trouble with mature games (18 certificate here in the UK being the equivalent.) when I was younger. Was a very different story with movies though for some reason. I also was never allowed to own Silent Hill because of some crazy story in a news paper my parents read about how it has a satanic influence on people.

Don't worry about it too much. It might not seem like it but your parents are trying to look out for you, they think they're preserving your innocense. Sure, doesn't work like that in reality - but at least your parents actually care. I'm sure there are many kids out there whos parents wouldn't care if they were watching hardcore porn at age 5 or something.

I know it sucks, but the age ratings are there for a reason. If your parents aren't familiar with games, it might be hard for them to make an informed judgement about the content of a particular game beyond what it says on the box. In which case they are right to deny you access to such things. It doesn't last forever though.
