I've dabbled in all of the popular MOBAs, and enjoyed them but ultimately found them too stressful for regular play. HOTS, on the other hand, is super addicting to me. I literally started playing for the first time today, and racked up 20 matches (like 5 hours) without realizing I'd hit 4am. The variety of secondary objectives on the different maps keep every round feeling fresh.

And I think this game won't really attract the hardcore MOBA fans. Like the podcast email mentioned, it's way less mechanically complex. It's a MOBA for the rest of us. That's not necessarily a bad thing for them, since I'm guessing traditional MOBAs are approaching peak saturation of the "hardcore" market. If this serves as a more manageable on-ramp for those games, that's good for them as well.

One last thing: I've been maining Raynor the Starcraft gunner and he's the best character I've played in any MOBA. He can be built into a defensive powerhouse or a crazy-high DPSer with a few key skill choices. I bought the Starter Kit bundle for $4.99 just to get him after using him for the Tutorial and don't regret it. If he's indicative of the talent trees of the other characters, I think I'll be playing a lot of this game.

I have played an itty bitty amount of Dota 2 and LoL, enough to know that I would like to play some moba, but not these mobas, if you know what I mean. Played about 30 games in Hots, mostly co-op. Really like it. Mostly play late night Europe time.

Finally getting into a good rhythm after picking this up a couple weeks ago (yes, because of the Drew video), seem to have settled on Sonya, Tyrande and Sgt. Hammer as my semi-mains... which makes the pub QM queue a living hell for me.

Used to be very much into the original Dota, i then went on to HoN.. Played about 100hrs of Dota 2 then gave up on Mobas due to their toxic community and lack of online friends (due to a break from online gaming)
