Alternate realities are worlds that exists next to, in parallel of, or in place of our own.
The Bangsian Fantasy is a fantasy trope where famous historical or literary individuals interact within the after-life. It was named after John Kendrick Bangs who often wrote in said manner.
Games prominently featuring celebrities, who either endorse the game or act as the focus of the story. Games with characters who happen to be played by celebrities are not always tie-ins.
Sometimes, rather than building a character model from scratch, a developer will sometimes use a real person as a template and use his or her physical attributes to create a similar character model to be used in their video game. In some cases that real reason will appear as themselves in games.
Video game controversy revolves mostly around the psychological effects that games with graphic violence or sexual content in them can have on players. Other sources of controversy can range from racism, sexism, politics, or religion.
Some of these games were trying to approximate the person's actual features with little success, and others stylized them on purpose. Either way, no one would confuse the resulting characters with the people they represent.
When developers and publishers can't resist putting themselves in their games, either in the title or actually within the game itself.
Like in-game manuals, encyclopedias may have gameplay information, background lore or real-life trivia.
A game based heavily on real-world events, usually with heightened realism. Such games include "Six Days in Fallujah".
Historically inaccurate games are those that do not abide by actual historical timelines for design or plot points.
Humans are bipedal, sapient primates capable of abstract reasoning, language, and emotions.
Poking fun at a specific existing work, whether a game, a movie, or something else, by imitating and exaggerating its characteristics. Some games use parody here and there, while others are entirely parodic.
Realism is where a game attempts to accurately mimic real life through gameplay mechanics and visuals. For example, realistic shooters, such as Operation Flashpoint, Full Spectrum Warrior, or Brothers in Arms, typically focus upon squad tactics, i.e. suppressive fire and flanking.
An alliance of nations who opposed the Allied powers in World War II. They included Germany, Italy, Japan, and many others.
The concept of a character leaping forwards or backwards in time.
Supporting characters who are heard throughout the course of the game, but are never seen physically by the player.
