FUCKING RIGHT! This was the only thing keeping me from being abnormally pumped for this game, I was just regularly pumped. Now I'm abnormally pumped.
I do really wish they kept the old voice, because this kind of defeats the whole reason why they got the new VA in the first place. But I am glad that I don't have to look at a dude-bro that seems like he could start bursting into a conversation about Ford Mustangs any second. Beggars can't be choosers, and I'm glad they listened to our cries.
inFamous 2
Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Jun 07, 2011
The electric superhuman, Cole MacGrath, returns in the sequel to 2009's open world superhero third-person action game from Sucker Punch, featuring new graphics, a new city, and new powers.
THEY'RE CHANGING COLE BACK!
Well, as long as I can still play "infamously" and look even eviler, then cool.
However, I am offended by this comment in the source:
YES!!! THANK GOD!
I was honestly thinking off not playing the 2nd one because off how gay he looked (yes i have something against gays, so shut up)

Voice actor is still different though. Ah well, I enjoyed the first one enough to get the sequel even if the first did have some problems.
The voice actor doesn't live near the studio, and since they are doing performance capture (how Uncharted does its motion capture and voice capture) they needed an actor that was local.
Whatever, as long as the game is good I'm all for anything.

"Stupendous news! His new look was just a shitty Nathan Drake knockoff anyways. "
Pretty much this. That new look just did not sit right at all and felt like it was riding the coattails of Uncharted 2. It's not like I wouldn't have bought the game because of it but the change back is definitely good news.
Nice, but my main complaint was with the voice, not the look of the character. I won't be happy until the get the original voice actor back (or at least find someone manlier than who they have now).
" As long as I get some hard core rooftop electric grinding, they can put Cole in a clown suit and give him Michael Cera's dorky-ass voice for all I care. "That would be fucking bad ass! I also liked Cole's original look so this is good news.
" I hope they havn't changed him completely back. I mean, surely he's grown back some hair since the explosion in the first game. "No dude, everyone in a destroyed city stays shaved and groomed. I'm surprised you didn't know that.
This is fantastic news. While the Old(and now only) Cole's character was a little grating I grew to love him and his fucked up time-traveling-electric-super-power-having life.
I prefer the new voice actor. The new character had grown on me a little, but I'm happy to hear they've listened to fan-feedback on this.
" AT LAST they've made Cole exactly as uninteresting and devoid of character as before. Well done internet! "Your appearance doesn't make you interesting or give you character. Your personality, backstory, dialogue, and mannerisms do.
The problem was that the new design looked like several other popular video game characters. I can find way more protagonists who looked like the dropped Cole design, than I can find who looked like the original. Also, games should be visually and internally consistent. If this is the Cole they wanted, then it should have been the Cole they made. Don't claim your "continuing the story" when you've complete changed a character's appearance, voice, and personality.
New Cole was okay, but he wasn't old cole. If new cole was a whole new character it wouldn't be so bad but they would have no explanation for the dramatic change so... Yeah, I'm glad old Cole is back.
Obviously we played 2 very different games, but you've got a point. Does it matter what the main character is like when there's a coherent narrative and good gameplay behind it? I would argue those two things were seriously missing in the first Infamous, but I see where you're coming from.
I'm really hoping this pulls a 'Uncharted 2' and totally revises my opinion of the franchise. I love the Sly Cooper series, but really didn't like Infamous.
If he was a locked safe before, I'd want him to be a black box this time around if I had it my way.
I hadn't actually played inFamous when the latest trailer for inFamous 2 was shown, but since then I've finished it and I gotta say that I (mostly) liked the look of "old Cole" a lot, so I'm glad that they decided to stick with it. Not that I completely hated "new Cole" but yeah...consistency is nice.
As for the sequel, I liked the original inFamous after playing through it, but there were a lot of points that could be improved upon, namely the amounts of obvious pop in, face animations and climbing mechanics that not always worked their best. With that said I'm now excited and have high hopes for this sequel.
It sucks that they're ditching the look they had for Cole, but oh well. Hope the NEW new look turns out OK.
And for all that is holy, they better NOT change Cole's voice back to that shitty "I smoke 20 packs of Camels a day" voice. It reminded me too much of Christian Bale's shitty Batman voice, and that's never a good thing as far as I'm concerned.
My biggest bone of contention was the voice actor, it's not that he's bad it's just a completely different change to the character. I kind of wished they requested the actor try and emulate the voice of Cole from the first game just a little.
Right now he sounds so happy and upbeat about everything. Cole was a bit like Batman or Spider-Man, a bit of a brooding grumpy bugger who had a few light hearted jokes and moments.
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Sucker Punch. Do you really not have any people working for you that have a sense of style and class? We said we hated the new look, we didn't say we wanted the old one back. Whatever, though. At least I don't have to play as some dude who I can't look at without wanting to punch him in the face.
Oh, and the voice. Did it get grittier again?
I can sympathise with the argument about consistency, however the fact that Cole has absolutely no redeeming qualities as a character from the start is my problem with Cole 'let me do my Batman voice' McGrath. I had zero empathy for the twat, which hopefully the new game will fix. I preferred 'Alex Mercer' by far as a character considering his lack of emotion and character traits made sense within the game. Cole was an annoying prat made more annoying by the ridiculous 'morality' system.
I was really hoping they'd leave all that broody skin head crap behind. However as long as they fix the inherent flaws in the game (travel, story, engine) then hopefully it will be far greater. In the end though, does it really matter what a character skin looks like, as long as the personality underneath is compelling? That was my main problem with the first game.
