Life
John Terrence Kelly better known as John Clark has appeared in many of the Tom Clancy novels. Clark also appeared in many of the Clancy based movies as well as the Rainbow Six video game series.
Clark was born in 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana . His first wife Patrica, who was pregnant at the time, perished in a car accident. He would later go on to name on of his daughters after her. Sometime later, while recovering from a injury at Johns Hopkins hospital, he met next wife, Sandy O'Toole, in which he later had two daughters with. His daughter, Patrica, later married another popular Clancy character, Rainbow Six team leader Domingo 'Ding' Chavez. During the events of the rainbow six novel Patrica gave birth to a boy which became Clarks frist grandchild.
Military Life
John Kelly (Kelly being his name at that time) started his career in the navy but during the events of the Vietnam War he join the Navy SEALs. After he retired from the seals, john was recruited by the CIA for a mission that sent him back into Vietnam. In the Clancy Novel Without Remorse we learn the origin of his name change from Kelly to Clark. John found him self in the middle of a drug war in which he was avenging a former girlfriend. Once over john faked his death and joined the CIA full time where he went under the name John Clark.
Rainbow Six (Novel)
In 1998's novel Rainbow Six, an aging John Clark takes the reigns of a newly form counter terrorist unit known as Rainbow. Comprised of members from around the world Clark acts as Operational Director. This means the buck stops with him. Nothing could be done in rainbow without his approval.
Rainbow Six (Games)
Clark first video game appearance was in 1998's Rainbow Six which was being developed by the newly form Red Storm Entertainment even before Clancy penned the novel. Although he was never a playable character, Clark still shows up in many of the rainbow six titles playing out his role as operational director. In Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear Clark shows up as a voiced character that gives the player orders before the planning stage of a mission. In Rainbow Six 3 Clark shows up as a fully voiced and acted character during many of the games cut scenes. During the events of 2006's Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Critical Hour, John Clark retires as head of rainbow turning the reins over to son-in-law Domingo 'Ding' Chavez.
