Description:
Kai's role and personality in the series changes drastically. He generally remains a potential romance interest and/or rival.
Game Appearances:
- Harvest Moon 64 - Kai works and lives at the vineyard with Gotz and his family. Hardworking and polite, he arrived in Flowerbud Village for work. After befriending him, Kai reveals that back in his hometown, he grew up in a large family and has many siblings. Though he tries his best to support Karen and her father, he's frustrated at his helplessness regarding the vineyard's poor yearly harvests and the ensuing family tension. Should the protagonist not pursue her (also must befriend her within the 1st year so she doesn't leave town forever), Karen will marry Kai. If the vineyard's soil is restored, Kai has more upbeat dialogue regarding the future.
- Harvest Moon: Back to Nature - In a complete reversal of his previous personality, Kai is a freewheeling world traveler that visits Mineral Town every summer to run the beach snack shop. He only prefers the warm climate and will leave town on Fall 1st every year to travel to another sunny town. Also contrasting his polite and hardworking temperament from the 64, he is now charming, flirty, and the men in Mineral town get jealous of his freedom. To Rick's chagrin, Popuri has taken a liking to him and will visit the snack shop every chance she gets. Should they marry, she will accompany him in his travels and will also only appear in town during the summer. His favorite foods are corn and pineapple.
- Harvest Moon: Friends/More Friends of Mineral Town - Same role as "Back to Nature" but now a potential romance interest (In "More Friends of Mineral Town" only). Also has an extra cutscene in which Popuri, concerned about how empty the snack shop is, invites more customers one summer day. The snack shop ends up being really popular for one day and Kai realizes that even though business is usually slow, he prefers the more laid back vibes rather than making lots of money. Should the protagonist marry him, he stays in Mineral Town year-round instead of leaving every Fall.
- Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town - Same role as "Friends/More Friends of Mineral Town." He is now a potential romance interest for the male protagonist as well. More cutscenes reveal his insecurity over his laid back nature versus the rest of the town.
