Killing Floor 2 is now available on PS Plus. It's a six player co-op horde shooter, and from messing around with it in solo mode, it seems like it'll be a lot of fun in a group. After the original release, the developers kept adding to the game with free DLC, and now it seems to have 10 or so maps, a bunch of classes, and quite a bit of content.

If you've played it, I'd like to hear your thoughts. If you're a fan of COD Zombies, I'd be interested in hearing how you feel this compares. Either way, the game is now free, so check it out.

Played a bunch of it tonight (solo, as games like this I prefer to play while zoning out to music/podcasts), really enjoying it. I played a lot of the original Killing Floor, but it never quite clicked like this one immediately did. I hope this ends up with the absurd amount of maps and seasonal silliness that KF1 has.

One thing that amuses me a lot is that the soundtrack has a bunch of Demon Hunter on it. I can honestly say that I wasn't expecting the music to be Christian nu-metal of all things.

Played the first game a lot (and Black Ops 1 zombies for even longer than that). Its one of my most played games ever.

This is my first time playing the sequel since my PC is a fucking toaster. I've only played a few short solo games, and it seems super fun and I'm getting a lot of the same feelings. I'll need to play it more though because even on normal/short/solo it seemed a lot easier, and I didn't fall in love with the maps I played. Something is just not hooking me the same way.

That all being said it has a button dedicated to spinning your pistol so its actually the best game of the year

In comparison to CoD zombies, Killing Floor definitely doesn't require as much hauling ass. In Zombies you know your sick hold up spot isn't going to work forever, and at some point you're basically required to start running around. Killing Floor you more than likely have a chance to hold out in the same spot the whole game, considering the rounds are limited.

may try this, the first one seemed like it was too much to handle as a single player and playing with others seemed like a good invitation to be yelled at harshly for how bad you're playing it wrong.

i kinda wish more multiplayer games like this had better options for soloing and ai companions (ala, strangely enough, one jason ostrichrider's favorite God Eater). it feels there's quite a few times where i was attracted to a game's mechanics but didn't want to put up with randos online or feeling like i was sucking shit at a game constantly (even if people were being nice and not reminding me of it all the time while playing)

I always thought it looked like "Worlds Most Generic FPS The Game" but if it's for the low price of free maybe I'll give it a shot.

This is a fun ass game to learn with friends. If you play with rando's, it can be hit or miss. but a good core group on chat is fun. I love the game.

The game has a toggle in the options to turn off vocals for the music. 10/10. Honestly, I really enjoyed the game at launch, and will be jumping back in this week.

Playing it on PC in Early Access was disappointing because of the glacial pace of updates after they promised to be out of EA within 6 months. That said, KF2 eventually grew to stand on its own legs. The only thing it's missing now is the 40 or so maps the first game had.

For those of you who love good guns in games, the KF2 guns are amazing since most of them are animated at what I think was around 200 FPS per animation due to the slowmo "zed-time" mechanic. Might be fun to check out.

Its also cool how the blood stains you amass through the match will stay there and not disappear through 10 full rounds of the game.

I really liked the first one, but when the second had a free weekend on Steam it didn't do much for me.

Played some last night and it's alright. I'll probably keep it around for a bit to fill that co-op shooter void.

The OG Killingfloor is better then COD Zombies. Kinda fell off on Killingfloor 2. Really like Tripwire they feel like old skool pc developer where games as a service was a standard.

    PS+ boys:

    No Caption Provided

On a serious note I'll try playing with randoms but if someone wants to group up I'm down, PSN is Valgresas. I suspect with 6 players there's a lot more room for fuckery then your standard 4 player horde mode; especially if there's a high skill ceiling. Of course the skill ceiling in CoD: Zombie is super low and boils down to memorization/kiting but this looks more like a standard shooty shooty affair.

@fredchuckdave: I'll definitely add you. The KF1 randos are the other reason I play these solo, haha. I'd much rather play with folks I "know".

KF2 is a ton of fun on PC, played a lot of it with friends. Great game if you want to play something with your buddies and not take it too seriously and be able to talk while you're playing. I'm not sure how well a controller will do at higher difficulties or if they tuned the PS4 version down to compensate for the lack in precision and speed, though. On PC, it becomes critical to quickly headshot EVERYTHING while moving around the map as a group, otherwise you will get overwhelmed and/or run out of ammo.

@mike: I can't compare it to the PC version, but between ADS auto-aim and a Doom-like controller swiftness, I'm sure some crazy folks are soloing HoE difficulty on the regular, haha.

I'm curious: Does the PC version automatically swivel you around when a Clot grabs you from the side/behind? I fucking *hate* that. It's really disorienting, and I wish they'd find a better way to do it.

I thought the beta on ps4 was really fun, and I didn't talk with anyone ingame but most games I played then still had the group staying together pretty well naturally. Didn't hear anyone else talk either. Maybe I was lucky? Didn't end up buying it at release though. Downloading as we speak.

In the beta the vocals were off by default, I had a chuckle too when I saw that was an option.

I've been playing the shit out of this. I liked the original game on pc and was curious about the sequel, but the $40 price kept me away. The physics and animations make this game gore porn of the highest quality, and I find the gunplay intoxicatingly satisfying. I highly recommend this to all, give it a few rounds and play it as a coop game. Nobody survives alone here.

That's actually one of my favorite aspects of the game. Normally in these sort of 3rd person horde mode games, you can sometimes be attacked from behind and not know you're taking damage until you're either dead or close to it. With this, it's an instant "hey, you need to shoot this group of enemies too" reminder, and it works well, IMO.

I just finished a game where I survived alone. 10 waves and killed the boss. It ways okay, but the game is WAY better in co-op. I played with some friends earlier in the night, and this game is much better than I expected it to be. It's also a lot better than COD Zombies, IMO. Zombies fans may feel differently, but this is the sort of game I always wanted Zombies to be.

And you can actually sprint backwards in this game, which I don't remember ever seeing in a shooter before.

Really loved KF (70 hours on Steam) although it and its engine feels old. Only really played KF2 in beta but it never grabbed me the same way. maybe I'll try it out again.

I haven't played the PS4 version but I've had the PC version since it was first released and although the first release was pretty content-bare with slow updates, I have just about nothing but positive things to say about the game now that it's been updated a bunch. I've poured 150 hours into it, beaten a few of maps on hell on earth and have some perks at max level and I'm still coming back to it every now and then. I think the only thing I really dislike is the skill choices when you level up, a lot of them feel pretty no-brainer instead of something you actually want to think about.

This game is pretty good, auto aim plus Winchester is fun and seems like they picked every cool gun you could want while still making them all feel arcade-y. Rail Gun should probably just be the Gauss Cannon from Doom but whatever. Because of auto aim you can just jack up the sensitivity however much you want and spin around faster than a whirling dervish.

Fun in co-op with randoms. Characters move a little too slow for my liking but didn't really impact the experience that much. Some of the maps are a lot better than others (to be expected with so many).

You can turn off the view change when a clot grabs you in the options.

I played a whole lot of the original and generally enjoyed it except that you either had to play incredibly low difficulty or you were stuck in one of the few classes that you had spent forever grinding on. Have they toned down the amount of grind in the sequel?

Never played a KF game before but I'm enjoying this one. It's like a bigger, class based version of House of the Dead. Very arcade like and fun. I wish there was some sort of indicator for people for healing grenade AoE though, as every time I try help someone with one they just run away and ignore it..

Not really. I used Cheat Engine on PC to take care of that.
