L.A. Noire has proven to be a relatively divisive game, with many people absolutely loving it, while others don't care for it much at all. With all the talk of it being more an adventure game than any sort of traditional open-world game, I'm simply wondering how clear-cut people's preferences are in relation to these two things.

Is it strictly the people who love adventure games who also love L.A. Noire, or does the game have enough other things going on to draw in players who don't usually go for Monkey Island or Back to the Future?

Personally, I don't care for traditional adventure games, and I don't care too much for L.A. Noire. Maybe that's part of it.

EDIT: That link contains spoilers through Homicide.

Ah, the mistake of putting an option that isn't relevant to the question.

Which one? E? That just keeps people who haven't played the game from skewing the results just so they can see them.

I like la noire but I have never really played an adventure game. Are adventure games just the point and click monkey island type stuff or are there other types of adventure games?

I like Adventure games. I like Ace Attorney games. I just think LA Noire as of yet (Vice case 1) has bad case writing.
I've heard that the cases get better here on but the same people said that the last Homicide was "AMAZING" when I found the whole Homicide run to be boring and a missed opportunity for a cool story.

I love LA Noire, but I've never liked most adventure games sadly. I've tried to get into Sam & Max so many times.

I'm holding myself back via a concrete barrier bombarding you with statements wondering "Why the hell you don't even know what an adventure game is?!"
I'm not going to ask that question. I just want you to know that I am struggling right now for your behalf.
Because I am that nice!(*grits teeth*)

Adventure games are one of the earliest forms of videogame genres. You can follow their roots design and mechanical roots all the way back to text adventures. During the mid-to-late 80's and early 90's, they flourished and financially peaked. LucasArts and Sierra practically built their early successes on adventure games. They are usually defined as "Stop and explore", moments of gameplay where the focus is interacting with an environment or situation to solve the current arch of the story.
Main mechanics are usually focused on item collecting and utilization, and puzzle solving. Design is usually paced slowly and narrative is dispersed linearly. These mechanics and design are not exclusive to the genre and have been intermixed between loads of different genres

I've never really played a traditional adventure game and I love LA Noire so I went with B.  I suppose I'd be interested in playing an adventure game though.  I don't generally 'hate' any game based entirely off its genre.

When you make a poll now, it asks if you want to attach it to a specific page.

I thought LA Noire was ok, and i'm into some adventure games.
Back in the day some of them were pretty awesome, i'm not too into the modern ones though...
