Game Information: Left 4 Dead is a rare game, it blends Horror with Survival, in a Co-operative First-Person Shooter Experience, the game was originally being developed by Turtle Rock Studios, but this later changed when Valve Software purchased the smaller company Turtle Rock Studios. Due to this the game was transferred to the Source Engine and the game has since been Re-Designed into it's current awesomeness.
Gameplay: Basically you play as 4 survivors (with either 3 friends or 3 AI controlled NPCs helping you through the game, you're main goal is to kick ass and make it from Safe House to Safe House, which sounds easy enough but based on your skill level and how fast you're moving through the game an AI controlled "Director" controls how many Undead are spawned into the world and also controls where and when Ammo, Items, Special Horde NPCs are spawned. You looking for a hard game?, play L4D on Expert with 4 friends without dying once through the whole campaign, I did it and trust me, its hard. (The difficulty level going from Advanced to Expert is a HUGE jump, I'd advise you make sure you can handle Advanced before going to Expert)
Multiplayer: There is Multiplayer in Left 4 Dead and it's a wonderful addition, you play as either the infected special NPCs (Hunter, Smoker, Boomer, Tank, Witch is not playable in Multiplayer), or the Survivors, your goals are different depending on which team you pick (Infected or Survivors). If you pick Infected your goal is to Kill and prevent the survivors from reaching the Safe Rooms. As a Survivor you guessed it, your goal is to kick some zombie ass all the way to the Safe Room, only one survivor has to reach the safe room for the Infected to Lose. Packed into Multiplayer is also the experience known as Lag, although not a huge problem (or so I've heard on 360) the PC has a lack of great dedicated servers and you almost always end up playing off of a hosts slow internet connection.
Multiplayer also allows for you and three friends to play the Campaign together, this is the selling point of Left 4 Dead and should be one of the reasons you buy the game.
Achievements: There are 51 achievements in Left 4 Dead which range from easy all the way up to Super Dooper Impossible, the achievements on the PC don't really do much besides providing some bragging rights, I personally love my achievement for killing a witch in one shot.
My Rating: 10 Zombie Fingers out of 10, this game is one of the better titles this year for Online Coop, (When replying add this to the end of your post if you actually read this topic, "I <3 L4D") if you enjoy single player gamers I don't think you will find this to appealing as the game was designed with Coop in mind and doesn't provide the same experience without the loud pitched girlish screams your friends make when they startle a witch. (Kevin if you're reading this you know what I mean you woman)
