    A grim experience

LN is mostly 'experience/narratively' driven, by which I mean that the developer focussed more on the emotional and aesthetical aspects of the game. The actual gampeplay – which is solving 'puzzles' and relying on twitch reactions – should not be the main reason to even buy this game. In fact, there are no puzzles, and due to the lack of responsiveness of the avatar, it is also hard to argue that LN is meant as a challenge (like Limbo or Inside). The most intens moments is running to the end of a runway (read: hold one button and a direction) and slight under a structure at the end (hold another button).

That being said, the tone is set really well. The presentation holds up, which means that it is scary-as-hell throughout the whole game. This monotonous presentation is why I recommend players to play in several sittings instead of a single, complete one.

The only reason to play levels a second time is to look for hidden collectibles that unlock concept art ('yippie'). Too bad the level design alone isn't complex enough to make you revisit the dark world, again making the comparison with Limbo where the level design is compelling enough.

Currently, it's priced with 20 euros. I got it for 10, which is a more fair price.

Side note: Nintendos DIRECT presentation of march 2018 included this game, in which they said it has "complex levels" which pissed me off because this game has no complex levels at all.

They are so similar that if someone told me that Playdead developed Little Nightmares, I would not have doubted it. I’m sure the comparison does not sit well with Tarsier Studios, it being a Swedish team while Playdead is located in neighboring Denmark and vice-versa. With all that said, Little Nightmares is a beautiful grim puzzle platformer w...
