    But buyer, beware

DbD has some extreme balancing issues, partly caused by the mode, partly by perks and partly by some quircks in for example the map designs and player techniques. Add to that the toxic community and you'll eventually regret buying this game. Don't get me wrong, my first 40 hours were a lot of fun, but than I stumbled upon the same balance issues again and again, which made DbD more frustrating than fun. Perhaps the inherent problem of the game is that it doesn't flat out say if you 'won' a game. If 2 of the 4 Survivors were killed, does that mean the Killer won? Actually, for the Killer it does say when the “entity is satisfied”. Some people would say “The Killer is suppose to kill”, which can easily be argued with “Survivors are suppose to survive”. Either way, you'll always get points to level up and in the end that is what everybody still cares about today.

The first and biggest balance issue is easy to explain: when you play with friends against the Killer, you can communicate about everything happening in the game. You can for yell out where for example you and some traps are. You can basicly share everything the others need to know. It's like every Survivor has a walkie-talkie with him, but the Killer can't hear them. If you play with randoms, it is the total opposite, as you can't communicate at all. To make it even more insulting is that the survivors only carry two emotes: pointing and 'come with me'. 'Playing with friends' is also the reason why the Map as an item is pointless, as well as many perks, simply because you can share the information through communication.

Perks range from basicly completely useless to extremely overpowered. This is true for both Survivors and Killers. More annoyingly, the best perks are locked behind a progression bar, so you better expect to die constantly in your first view hours. An example of a useless perk is the ability to instantly heal and gain speed when the last generator is powered, in other words, it's an ability that only activates for a view seconds at the end of the game. It is quite a constrast with the ability to heal yourself at anytime, as often as you like without the need of other Survivors. Laughably enough, most perks are pointless when playing with friends like the abilty to reveal your fellow nearby Survivors. There are in fact multiple perks like this one. These hit-or-miss perks are also true for the Killer, as you can easily spot the Killer with the 'good perks' from the Killer with the 'bad perks' when playing as a Survivor.

What I mean with quircks are for example the hitboxes of the pallets being too big and blocking a Killer while he is trying to hook another Survivor. A Survivor can have the Killer chase him for long periods of time, to the point to where it's just painfully funny. I'm sure that every player has seen this situation where both the Survivor and Killer are running circles around the same box. It literally looks like a Tom & Jerry cartoon. Some maps are really hard for the Killer as he can have poor visibilty due to too many walls or the abundant cornfields. Enter the forums, and people can point out even more annoying quircks, like the large amounts of hooks and/or pallets, countered with a perk that can easily free yourself from the grasp of the Killer. These things and map-designs have become problematic because the devs try to fix one problem but unintentionally created another one.

With that, I need to disclose this: this community is incredibly toxic. Anyone who had an issue with this game, gets attacked immediately with childish responses and sarcasm. When I first bought this game, I was cautious of entering these forums as I read about its infamous reputation. I still see the same forums pop up constantly about the same issues Survivors have with the Killers. Sadly, I don't see these balance issues ever being solved, as long as the mode 'with friends' is weaved with the solo-Killer players. In fact, with people having the abilty to play with friends or with randoms, I don't see how this game can ever be fixed.

Atleast the progression system is fun and addicting, and you'll most likely get a laugh out of the action! The game is only 10 bucks on a sale, which is a good price considering how much time you can spent with it.

    Edit:

I should also say that this game might not be worth for players with a low-end PC setup, as one of the most crucial things in this game is a QTE that is affected by the framerate. In overall, I would argue that this game is coded poorly, as hitboxes of characters and objects are way bigger as they seem to be, making it possible to block whole entrances with only 1 character by accident. On top of that, the overall game requires a lot of power. My CPU can get really heated with this game specifcly (I monitored it) and yet the game doesn't look that good at all.

Very good Graphics and Gameplay 0

The game has evolved from the time it launched. New characters, new maps. But the point for this type of games is to have fun while you hunt or get hunted, and it does very well achieve that. Also, there is some locks where a user will lose if he start a movie sequence, but every game with sequences have that. Furthermore, waiting times for starting a game are ok, but could have been better. I take a star off because there could have been better job at the character sequences....
