[ C ] Mario is a normal person who somehow finds himself in a land of deformed "humans."

Seriously, Mario is human, and these "people" clash horribly with the canonical design that has been accepted as being human in Mario games for ages.

Perhaps it is us who are the weird cartoon monster men.

Man this game looks so good. Like Mario games used to have desert and snow worlds now they have weird-ass Sonic Adventure-esque fake NYC as one of the worlds. man oh man I can't wait for this brand new level of surrealist madness in the Mario "universe".

Also in that trailer he pulled up a turnip, this games gonna be too good.

Mario in the real world is the most horrific thing I've ever seen.

I just assumed Mario was how humans looked in that universe. I didnt think he changed appearance at all. Now this totally messes with that.

The only way i've managed to rationalise this in my head is that "New Donk City" is some bizzaro universe where humans look more bland.

I'm really surprised I'm in the minority here! I came up with that idea while playing Super Mario World as a kid - I had never seen the movie. Didn't actually see that until I was a bit older. I guess we all have our opinions on Mario.

Also worth noting - Mario collects a lot of different stuff in this game. I've seen rings, triangles, and nuts and bolts so far.

I used to think the former when I saw the super Mario super show and the valiant comics etc.

But the more I read and played stuff directly out of Nintendo the more realized he is just Mickey Mouse all the time.
