just wait till more reviews come out, im sure gamespot will pull it down and change the score like with mw2 lol
" WHAT 9 OUT OF TEN THIS IS FUCKIN BULL SHIT!!!!!! "please tell me you're being sarcastic... 9/10 is an amazing score
I think that's the lowest score it as gotten so far. Not unexpected from a site that gave Demon's Souls their Game of the Year Award.

Wow you people are pathetic...whining about a 9 out of 10. Some of you are joking, obviously...but not all of you. And a moderator no less.
" @handlas: I am more laughing at Gamespot for seemingly always giving a game the lowest score and giving GOTY awards to the video game equivalent of "hipster" and "indie" simply to make themselves look "edgy" or "unique", mostly out of desperation due to the fact that they lost pretty much all credibility after the fiasco of late 2007. "So MGS4 was "hipster", huh? With a 10 and all?
Could have fooled me.
well you can think what you want of Gamespot, I don't care. If you played all the nominees and thought it sucked, well that's fine (I don't see your 2009 GOTY list so I dunno what you liked). But doesn't change the fact that Demon's Souls was just as deserving as the rest of the nominees. It continually got nominated for GOTY from various sites and got excellent reviews from just about everyone. Even the game developer awards nominated it for GOTY." @handlas: I am more laughing at Gamespot for seemingly always giving a game the lowest score and giving GOTY awards to the video game equivalent of "hipster" and "indie" simply to make themselves look "edgy" or "unique", mostly out of desperation due to the fact that they lost pretty much all credibility after the fiasco of late 2007. So basically people are whining, here, that Mass Effect 2 got a 9 out of 10. The same score their 2009 GOTY got. Just sayin...
I'm assuming he's referring to things like Demon's Souls as GOTY and Trials HD as the best puzzle game. There's nothing wrong with those games, but it seems more like they were chosen so that Gamespot will stand out from the rest and seem like they offer a different and unique perspective than everyone else

I'm not saying that's there MO, now or ever. I"m just saying that they made choices in the 2009 GOTY awards that seemed to have been done more to stand out from other sites.
And again, I'm just trying to offer a suggesting as to why someone would accuse GS of trying to be edgy. I don't in anyway think they aren;t as run of the mill as IGN or GamePro

"I, personally, thought that Demon's Souls deserved the recognition-however, I do agree with CitizenKane somewhat about Gamespot's 'desperation'. I know what you're talking about, handlas, and I'mma let you finish...but Uncharted 2 is the best 2009 game OF ALL TIME.
Jokes aside, I still felt, from various information and other things, that Gamespot preferred Uncharted 2 overall to Demon's Souls, it's just that they wanted to be unique.
On the other hand, I do trust Gamespot reviews somewhat, although they seem to be a bit strange now that they have a 0.5 scale (noticed yet? Why don't they make it out of 20?) so games that are undeserved to be within the league of another game is.
Oh God, did any of you actually read Kevin's review before questioning his credibility ? 9.0 sounds spot on if you read the written review and have a context. Fun fact: Multiple GS GOTY winners have got 9.0 or LESS!
And fuck's sake, how many times are you guys going to bring up Demon's Souls as some kind of proof for GameSpot's desperation? If anything, whinning about them choosing a great game as their GOTY makes you look desperate. If you're a regular listener of the HotSpot, you could actually see this "shocker" coming. And I also want to know how many of you haters actually played Demon's Souls ? Do you have any personal frame of reference for this game or are you just criticizing GS because it's the fashionable thing to do ? I wonder if you guys are going to be equally shocked if the GDCA does the same thing, and then call out the developers for being "hipster" or "edgy".

"Oh, dear.
" I think that's the lowest score it as gotten so far. Not unexpected from a site that gave Demon's Souls their Game of the Year Award. "Demon's Souls had a 9/10 there, so there is still a chance that this game might be their game of the year.
The way they review games and distribute GOTY awards (and the way those two relate) boggles the mind.

"Wow.
" Oh, and TWO TITLE SCREENS, if only they had used a different logo for each of those. "I would've liked the second title screen alot more had it been like the ending of some of the trailers. With the planet in the background and everything.
Not to say it isn't good, just not as good as it could've been.
I think a 9 is a fine score, as Kevin points out the game has technical issues like bugs. I ran into some technical issues in the first game.

Boy oh boy--some people won't be happy unless you give the game they love an eleventy-bajillionty out of ten. Goodness, folks.

It's a legit score. It means it's very good, but not perfect. Bearing in mind under 1% of you have played it, I think it's justifiable.
This should not surprise anyone.
Kevin Van'Ord reviewed it, which means it almost automatically has to be a weird score.
9/10 is good, but it doesn't really match his written review...as usual.
I refuse to watch the video review, not because of possible spoilers, but because I can't stand the inflection in his voice he uses. All his sentences end in the same pitch and it kills me.
