Overview
Ishikawa joined the Final Fantasy XIV team back in 2013 when the game was being scrapped, rebranded and rereleased as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. At the time she largely worked as a scenario writer for smaller side stories and questlines that would come to be beloved by fans of the game. Her most well-known work involves the Dark Knight job quests, the Crystal Tower series, and the main scenario narrative for Shadowbringers. Ishikawa was also one of the main writers for the official FFXIV lore books Encyclopedia Eorzea I and II, alongside Michael-Christopher Koji Fox and Banri Oda.
She cites that gameplay as being the most important base in regards to her writing, where the story is written around the level design.
In order to provide an experience that can only be done in a game, we need gameplay to be the axis around which that experience pivots.
She was promoted to lead scenario writer for Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers expansion from 2019 which would release to overwhelming positive reception from fans and critics alive, some even citing it as the best Final Fantasy story.
