The interminably mundane with the gloriously original - No Mans Sky Review 0

I often feel bad for game reviewers. I mean sure, on the surface, getting paid to play games seems like a sweet deal. That is, until you are faced with some massive, complex game coupled with a looming deadline, an irritable editor and a snarky art department. Then it becomes like trying to pull off amazing feats of sexual prowess whilst be watched by everyone you ever had sex with. Or maybe that’s just me. Anyway, the point I am laboring is people who review games have to play a lot of ga...

Proceedurally generated worlds and lies: the best of both worlds. 0

In 2014, Sean Murray came out on Sony’s E3 stage to show off the incredibly ambitious No Man’s Sky. After that announcement, gaming communities and publications started desperately searching for more information explaining what this game actually was. The level of secrecy and perceived ambition surrounding No Man’s Sky generated a level of hype that could only led to some disappointment along the way. Regardless of what fantasies we all created with No Man’s Sky, we have ...

No Man's Sky: Another early access survival game 0

After two years of hype and some vague information, No Man's Sky falls far flat of its goals and expectations. With a game like this it is important to remember that Hello Games an independent developer. However, with the amount of attention the game pulled and the promises it made to the gaming community, No Man's Sky should still be held to the same standard as any other video game. That being said, this game has an abundance of flaws, some technical, others graphical. Render distances are simp...

No Man's Sky - The Center of the Universe 0

The history of No Man's Sky is one of anger and lamentations, of hysteria and disappointment. A creator's imagination returned against himself; a small, hopeful ideal bloated by an industry and its consumers, and the violent, vindictive response of the latter, expectations that were impossible to meet and impossible to stop. Along Metal Gear Solid 2 and its secret protagonist, it is perhaps one of the most controversial game in the short history of the medium, regardless of its actual content. T...

When a game is so bad that you dont really have to point it out. 0

When a game is so bad that you don't really have to point it out. This game is so bad that I can't say it with words they lied and didn't do what they said they would. I played for 20 hours on the game that's it I'm not gonna play this again.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTTPlqK8AnYhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkrlFI19DaE...

It hurts to say it, but I really like this game 0

I originally wrote this as a comment on Alex Navarro's review, but it ended up being really long and I think it might hold some value to any prospective purchasers. Honestly, there are too many flaws in the game, and there isn't enough to do. Certainly not $60USD of things to do. And it really feels like Hello Games tried to pull a fast one on us with their messaging around the release. But as Alex said in his review, there's something else here which is incredibly compelling. It nails the atmos...

Shaggy's Space Jam 0

I like No Man's Sky despite its flaws. It's a space game and it's mostly about exploration and it has totally become my own personal Space Jam. If you like Starbound, this game is very similar, but from a first person view. A multi-tool allows you to shoot things and mine elements and minerals, you fly around to different planets in a space ship that has lasers on it, sometimes you shoot robots or pirate ships. The game is pretty light on combat and mostly about the thrill of looking to an unkno...

No man's lie 0

Why I can easily say I fell for the lies in the promotion of No man's sky what I can't say is that its a bad game. It's grown a lot since release and while not all the hooks are there that should be there as promised by the marketing what is there is a interesting game. The exploration is fun but can be really frustrating at times. I wound up in a galaxy with no way out and no planets I could land on forcing me to start out again in this crazy galaxy. I'll keep giving it a try and hopefully ...

Much improved and addictive, but still flawed 0

It seems unfair to Subnautica. Subnautica developers have achieved success with their game with far greater efficiency, fewer resources and a much lower price tag than the No Man’s Sky developers. And now, after a colossal failure of a launch, No Man’s Sky has borrowed a bunch of features from Subnautica that made that game a success, and unfortunately for Subnautica, surpassed it by having the allure of space travel and larger scale. I wonder if we, as wallet voters, should consider...

A majorly flawed game that is still worth checking out. 0

The game may not be great, but damn if it doesn't allow for some fantastic screenshots. It's hard to review a game like No Man's Sky. On one hand, I can write about how it is a bad game from most standpoints, but on the other, I could write about it is one of the most awe-inspiring games I've experienced since the original Mass Effect. Every player who interacts with this game will have an experience unique to them. With that being said, No Man's Sky is a really bad game with some huge upsides t...
