You know.. i can see this causing heart attacks if it gets refined enough. Like seriously.
Oculus Rift
The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset for the PC released in March 2016.
Horror and the Oculus Rift Are No Joke
"It takes quite a bit to scare me."
Judging by episodes of SwS, that is not true.
He's just trying to get those YouTube numbers, homie. Gotta get those subscriptions UP!

Yeah I agree :), nothing against Patrick, but he gets scared on those episodes pretty often and I just laugh.
Dreadhalls looks to be absolutely terrifying. It's just a small randomly generated dungeon, but with the Rift the walls seem to converge on you (a horror for me, being a little claustrophobic). Hearing monsters long before seeing them only adds to the terror. Still I cannot wait to get a hand on the consumer version of the Rift.

Well compared to a small child though, his tolerance is very high!
I had to laugh a little of the fact that You listed paranormal activities as on of your big scares, that movie is as far away from scary as one can get. Would love to try playing a horror game with oculus, never really gotten scared by playing a game, some jump scares but not real terror, I think the oculus has the potential to change that.
The rift has made spookin with scoops the show we all wanted it to be in the first place. I myself will not be playing any horror games on it. Scary movies and games don't scare me at all but I have a feeling being so immersed into it would possibly scare me and I'm just not interested in that. It's a lot of fun to watch Patrick do it to himself though.
Let's see, Oculus rift + a 5.2 setup.
I think actually have the sound in the room and having good locational audio as opposed to stereo headphones could really amp up the terror. Hearing something shift in the trees behind you or disembodied whispers or footsteps. With enough bass you even get a visceral response and could deliver some pretty serious impact.
I'm imagining someone playing the water scene from Amnesia and hearing the splashes around them.
Personally I have noooo interest in playing horror games (rift or otherwise) as I'm a wuss would could barely make through dead space. But seeing others experiment with it and test their own limits is fascinating.
Also I would like to buy a beer for the person who though to gift patrick the night-vision camera.

Are you kidding? Anyone who's watched Spookin' knows you get scared by anything.
He's talking "boo" scared vs. "I want to throw up in my mouth right now oh god why am I here" scared.
I'm renewing my premium membership just to watch the archive of that stream. I don't consider myself a horror fan; in fact, I hate horror movies, but horror games intrigue me so much. I cannot play them myself, and I'm so glad there is someone like Patrick who I can watch play them for me. :)
Oh, scoops... I know you've been at Kotaku for over a year now, but I'll comment anyway... you are a wuss. :)
Seriously, watching a scary movie alone or going through a haunted house attraction alone is too much? I wish I was able to scare that easily... I'd enjoy all these damn lackluster games in the horror genre more. I love the genre, but man are almost all of them terrible - I just want to find one I actually care to finish!
