I played WoW for a month and hated and I also played LOTRO for 4 months and the games is SOO slow paced, and the missions are just extremley far, the combat system is slow and sucks just hated it but liked it more than WoW
Age od Conan is the best IMO, it's brutal and has an awesome combat engine!
The only one I've played is Runescape. It's addicting, but its a repetitive grind. I'd play an MMO that doesn't require you to boost up all your skills - you could only focus on one if you wanted to - and you didnt have to grind, you just do fun quests and the experience adds up. And there's a story. And no monthly fees. If you have any suggestions, post on my wall.

If you consider Phantasy Star Online a MMORPG then that but it's not quite a MMORPG and more of a MMOG so then World of Warcraft would have to come after that. And EVE Online way in last place I can't stand that game.
