The PC (Personal Computer) is a highly configurable and upgradable gaming platform that, among home systems, sports the widest variety of control methods, largest library of games, and cutting edge graphics and sound capabilities.
The game that got you into PC gaming.
For me, I think it was a toss-up between Doom II and BlackThorn.
The original Rainbow Six was my first shooter and R6: Rogue Spear is still my favorite online game to this day.
And yeah, I'm old =P
Battlefield 2
I got into 1942 and Vietnam then saw BF2 and played a bit of it and thought it was the best thing I had ever played
then I bought a new graphics card to play it on my old computer that was about 4 years ago
now I own a $3000+ computer I payed for cause I'm to obsessed with PC gaming
but thats when I got really into PC gaming
Warcraft II is probably what originally got me into it
Jeez, the first time I ever was astounded with a PC game was Duke Nukem 3D.
And the first PC game addiction I ever had was Diablo 2.
I once played Civilization for about 30 hours straight. No sleep, skipped some classes, barely left the dorm room. ... lol .. (sigh)
This was 10+ years ago. I can't even imagine how bad the temptation must be now with the Call of Dutys, Halos, and World of Warcrafts out there.
I would have to say that it was a mix between Red Alert. Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines and Warcraft II. I never got into shooters until my early teens.
Quake 1 and 2. Especially Quake 2. After playing a round of Quake 2 deathmatch online...i was permanently sold on the PC platform.
I used to play a lot of old PC games when I was little, like MS Combat Flight Simulator 1 and 2, Lego Racers, Age of Empires 1 and 2, and Ghost Recon. I build my first PC and got really into PC gaming around 03/04 because I didn't want to miss out on Half-Life 2 and Doom 3.
it's amazing the amount of varied responses out there. people come from all types of games from all types of times ... and it's awesome! It makes me feel old but it also makes me feel sad for those out there that got hooked into console games. :p
PC was and still is, to me, the best gaming platform out there and a lot of people that have never gotten a chance to see why. :|
well for me, it was either the very first Original Command & Conquer, or Road Rash lol, the one that was released on PC CD-ROM which had all those absolutely hilarious videos!
Maybe Mixed Up Mother Goose. I started really young, maybe 1-2. Doubt I even knew what I was doing...
The first games that come to mind for me that got me into PC gaming was the Monkey Island games. I played 1 and 2 on the Amiga 500 back in the day, which eventualy led me to playing The Curse of Monkey Island on the PC. It was super awesome playing a game without disk-swaps, with full speech and cool animation.
Man I can still remember it taking numerous disk swaps just to see Largo Lagrande in Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge spit against a wall, lol.
Going to age myself here, the game that sticks in my mind from the early days was Crystal Caves, really the first good platformer attempted on PC. Before the internet was much of anything there were Bulletin Board Systems usually run by amateurs, you had to put in a phone number and literally dial them up, each one had a different number, so archaic. Shareware was taking off and you could download it from these BBS's, they would let you play 1/3 of the game free and then pay for the rest, later on Wolf 3d, Doom and the like would come out, good times man. Oh and Commander Keen, those games were so cute, you would have never thought those guys would later make games that Columbine was blamed on.
Well pc gaming myself was the commodore..Games like wargames awesome game..Seven cities of gold..Mike jorden an larry birds basketball..Was a cool game you can actually break the glass..
For the pc my first pc..Well games like civilization an simcity..Im talking the first of the series...Also ther was a game back than forget the name it was like magic an wizard..You would build a army an such an was just a fun game..Than civ 2 came along..Instant love..Might an magic also where some of my favorate games..Along with the ultimate series...
"Predasus said:Yep, my parents kept making me play Math Blaster. But honestly...it was fun! Lol. I really got into PC gaming with the original Call of Duty."dead serious ... the first PC game i ever played was MATH BLASTER! in elementary school ... it was there in those short little mini games of addition and subtraction goodness that I found out how much I loved PC games and also how much I sucked at math. I LOVED COMPUTER ROOM DAY but when it came time to print out the results on those old dot matrix printers ... eh ... not so much ... :p
but beyond that ... and into the actual games ... the first game I played that I really enjoyed was Doom. It scared me shitless and I remember I used to have this older friend that lived down the street. I would literally stalk him when he was home just so I could use his computer for an hour or two because my family was crap and didn't think we needed one. It was good times ... come to think of it ... I was probably really annoying. Sorry Eric ... where ever you are today!"
ROFL I PLAYED THAT GAME TOO HAHA"
