PlayStation 3

The PlayStation 3 (often abbreviated PS3) is the third home video game console created and released by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
I'm considering buying a PS3... talk me out of it.
Have there been cases directly connected to the breach yet? I'm curious to know.
If you sell your Wii, your shitty PC, and combine the proceeds with your potential PS3 spending money, you could buy a beast of a computer that would play games at far higher graphical fidelity than any console, all while taking advantage of sweet, sweet Steam sales, beautiful mods, and all those things you use a PC for that aren't games related.
Very few games are console exclusive these days, with even less being system exclusive. Uncharted or Infamous (or Gears or Halo) are a small price to pay for outright superiority.
(note: I'm trying to sell you on not buying a PS3, so I'm laying it on a bit thick; I actually like the PS3 and 360 a great deal).
@powerpc127 said:Anybody remember this? The lols all around. Now let's say you're playing a game on your PS3. You only have one controller because, let's be honest, nobody wants to pay $50 for a second controller that they'll never use. You're just about to beat the boss of the hardest level that you've ever played when suddenly... your controller's batteries die. "No problem," you say. "I'll just go get a new pair of batteries and-" WRONG AGAIN! There is absolutely no way to change the batteries on your PS3 controller. You'll just have to plug it in and charge it. Now you've moved the chair to be within 3 feet of the PS3 and are using the tiny cable that came with the system to power the controller. You finish off the boss and decide to turn off the system, leaving the controller plugged in to charge. Well guess what. When you get back, the controller still isn't charged!!! That's right, you have to have the system on in order for anything to charge. I hope your tv's not too big. That or I hope you like staring at a 40 inch screen from 3 feet away.Sorry but 35.99 shipped =/= $50.
AmazonAlso why would you want batteries for anything these days?! Simply plug your controller via USB to anything that supports USB 2.0. (If you have a laptop, you can have it sitting right next to you, charging while still playing) So no you don't have to have the system on to charge.
Don't buy it now. But buy it as soon as the price drops, which it's sure to in the next couple months.
because then you'll have less money for blackjack and hookers, in fact forget the blackjackI have perused this entire thread and this is the only good reason I have read.
@Progn0sticator said:Well I own a PS3 and kind of can't think of any good reasons not to get one if you aren't planning on getting a 360. :PPSN is kind of the shit right now?Kind of a short term problem when the PS3 is a long term purchase though, and playing online works fine now.

Who needs a native Netflix Instant Streaming App with a free gaming service and store on par with Microsoft's for-pay service and one of the best Blu-Ray players around. Fuck that!
I say go for it man. I really want to try out certain games like Yakuza 4 and the other one's you have mentioned. The fact that you are interested in a system's game library is a great reason to get one. I don't see why you want people to talk you out of it. If you can answer me that then you have your answer.

What most people dont like saying about the PS3 is that it is a tiking time bomb, literally. Sony has every console rigged to blow 6 months after the consumer purchases it from the store. Sometimes they grow a conscience and allow people to live, but for the most part they blow everyone up.
If that tale doesnt stop you from buying, I dont know what will.
- There is no voice chat between friends outside of playing the same game that supports it, only text chat.
- Some games suffer from poor ports. Just read up on a game that you want to buy that's multiplatform before making a decision.
- The console may be the most expensive on the market.
- I haven't used it, but the Playstation Move might not have many games to justify buying the controllers.
- Trophies are kinda cool, but like achievements, they don't really give the sense that you accomplished something and you can only get them once for a task.
- Buying movies from the Playstation Store doesn't allow for instant streaming.
- Netflix sometimes goes in and out of HD and you can't pre-buffer any material before watching.
You should probably get a PS3... But since you asked, some day Rockstar might put L.A. Noire out for PC. It won't be for another year or two at the earliest, but one can hope! Also, if you don't have a ps2 yet, just get one of those for crazy cheap. Play all the best games for crazy cheap, and by the time you've worked your way through those a PS3 will be down to $150. :)
Do you like fighting games? Don't get one as you can actually play them without buying a different controller. The 1080p blue rays look terrible next to their 480 dvd counterparts.Uncharted 2 is overrated just because it's great. Infamous being the only great superhero game beside the even better Arkam Asylum in recent memory is also no reason. Being a pc gamer, you realize how unimportant it is to make sure you never sell a model without a hard drive, so that all developers can make games that stream off the hard drive and the disk. No one needs more than 9 GB on their disk, so the 50 gig blue ray disk is a waste.
Don't listen to these guys.If the PS3 is so good then why are the top 2 selling games on PS3 both racing games from the same franchise? If you fail once, just try again, right? It's just so obvious, which makes it really poor trolling.
I guess you at least half succeeded because you got some replies, but can you really not do better, as the resident troll of Giant Bomb?
It seems silly for someone who likes to play games to not have a 360 or a PS3. Good grief dude, get a console, your missing out on a lot of great games.
I've got multiple 360s a PS3, a Wii and a computer. I even went and bought a PS2 recently because there is quite a few really good games on that as well..
If you want to have some silly console hate towards the 360, then at least get a PS3, otherwist you are just depriving youself of great games.
I don't get console bias, but I just like games, I don't really care where I play them, or what I play them on..
