Those Without PS3, Has Slim Convinced You? (Poll)
Well I own a PS3, and I know this maybe a little off-topic, but now that the price is dropping, I can get my White Japasnese PS3 : D
Yes, but not yet. I'll wait for the holidays. Or until after my birthday, when relatives hand me money because they don't know what I want :P.
Nope, my gaming thirsts are plenty quenched with my PC and 360.
(I'm not a fanboy or anything, I just don't want one.)
Well, Slim kind of encompasses a price drop and a redesign, so I thought there was no need to ask about the price drop because that's just part of the deal with Slim. Though I do acknowledge that there will probably be some (pretty stupid IMO) people who will buy the regular fat PS3 even though it has 40GB less storage space." If you are asking if the fact that it is now slim has convinced me to buy it, of course not - who gives a damn about that? The price drop.... that does help. "
I've always wanted one, but just couldn't spend the $400. With $100 chopped off, it's a lot more tempting. But all the games I'm getting this fall will be for my PC or 360, so I'll hold off for now. The only real grab it has for me is MGS4, and if Persona 5 is a PS3 exclusive, there's another grab. But for now, I'l wait...
I really, really want to play MGS4 and Uncharted, and the new price point is just something I cannot resist.
I don't have the money to get it right now......but once I do, I will grab it. Or maybe if I'm lucky, I'll get it for Christmas.
nah most of the games I want are multiplat this year, only buying halo 3 ODST as my only exclusive really, if I bought a PS3 I would probably only get Uncharted 2 which will probably be a great game but not worth me buying it just for that, maybe God of War 3 or Persona 5(thanks endurance run) so since those arent coming out this year I will just wait untill spring or holiday next year(maybe $200 PS3?) then buy it.

I don't care about slim or regular and backwards compatability (there's no PS2 must haves for me), it's the price that matters.
I've wanted one, but the price has been the biggest issue. With the lower price, I'll probably pick one up at some point in the future.
I actually don't have a PS2, since my experience with PS1 was so bad I flat out decided to not get the PS2. But now with my interests in the PS3 rising, BC is very important. Unfortunetaly, the PS3 Slim doesn't do much to make the PS3 better (it looks ugly now too).
If I would get the PS3, I would need to track down the old launch PS3's with BC.
While backwards compatiblitiy is important to me, it isn't a deal breaker; price is the main issue and for my needs it is still too much. I do not care about Blu-ray movies and as there are many games I would like to play on the system, most of the games I really want to play would be double-dips of games I already have (updated versions of Eternal Sonata, Tales of Vesperia, Ninja Gaiden 2, Bioshock).
At some point though I may look to getting a system, but for my needs now isn't the time.
I think the PS3 slim looks pretty good, and I'll probably get that rather than the original PS3. However, it's the price drop that really makes me happy.
The new price point makes a big difference. What I'd like to know about all this BC uproar is what PS2 games are so great you HAVE to be able to play them? I have still have my PS2 in a box with all the games and stuff sitting in a closest. The only time it came out was when my 360 had to be sent out for repairs. While I enjoyed my PS2 and didn't mind going back to it when I had to, I'm having trouble thinking of anything it offered that would prevent me from buying a PS3.
dude, got a 360, keeping a 360. the only people who are gonna buy this slim are PS3 owners who want a better PS3. (and who know, Wii owners may see the light and buy one. or an xbox, or anything but a freakin Wii !!!!
Or the thousands of people who have been waiting for a price drop?" dude, got a 360, keeping a 360. the only people who are gonna buy this slim are PS3 owners who want a better PS3. (and who know, Wii owners may see the light and buy one. or an xbox, or anything but a freakin Wii !!!! "
No, it has no backwards compatibiliy just like the other PS3s and I can't stand that B/C I only have limited space near my TV so can't have a 360, PS3 and PS2 set up all at the same time and messing around with all those wires is just a hassle.
Not worth it to me until they add backwards compatibly to it. There just isn't a big enough ps3 exclusive library to justify the price tag.
" I don't care about the slim itself, but the price point is very nice so "yes". "Same here.
I don't have a ps2. Backwards compatibility was the reason I bought a near-launch PS3 when I did. If Sony hadn't threatened to cut and then followed through with the threat and removed backwards compatibility, I might have waited until the forth coming price drop to pick one up. $600 was really too much for the console, but that's water under the bridge now.
I voted "Yes." I bought the MGS4 PS3 bundle last year, but was disappointed not just by the game, but by the system. I sold it earlier this year for $300. When the new God of War comes out, along with Uncharted and such, I'll consider buying a new PS3. I still have to buy new glasses and lenses, get an eye exam, buy a Zune HD, and all the great DS games comes out. So maybe not that soon...
I have one thing to say to all the people have waited for a pice drop/PS3 slim. "You cheap set of fuck nuggets". I bought my Ps3 when i was unemployed for god sake, i never thought it was to expensive
Would never buy a PS3 without backwards compatibility with PS2. Even though I have a PS2... I can't be dealing with hooking up both a PS2 and a PS3, my TV doesn't have infinite ports, playing a wired controller these days ain't gonna happen, my couch is too far away from the TV, I suspect my laser's about to give up in my PS2 and I'm reluctant to play on it. And I just like the dashboards modern day consoles have with menus and online stores to fuck around in. Starting up my PS2 feels like firing up a NES or something.
Sorry if it came off that way, but that was not my intent at all. I just thought that most people would have distinctly different reasons for not wanting to purchase the system still and thought I would put them up both up there." Clever, how you divided NO into two parts, virtually insuring YES to win......./... "
@SmashedControllers: I very well understand this. By the way of course its not nice to say bad things, if it was nice, you wouldn't be saying bad things would you.
I'm not made of money i live on a council estate for god sake. My point is however, that i saved up, i just didn't expect the money for a PS3 to come at once
