Is that Hamburgler Cesaro in disguise?

I can't believe they read my dumb-ass hoodie email, and it somehow became part of the deck for this week's show.

What can I say, I grew up with a Genesis - my love for Sonic runs deep... or at least it used to.

Is that Hamburgler Cesaro in disguise?

It's from back when McDonalds tried and failed to make the Hamburgler fuckable.

@gravyghost: I now say you should totally wear it. If your date asks about the hoodie then have them listen to the segment on the bombast!

Oh hey, Jason mentioned Acen. Yeah, the Dealer Hall there is 50% of the reason to go. The other 50% is half The excellent panels and 25% the crazy parties. (The raves are covered under parties)

Ben was actually right about Triple H once being involved in a dog angle, as Chris Jericho ran over his bulldog in a last minute angle to their Wrestlemania clash (from what I remember) due to Hunter not getting as strong of a baby face reaction as they hoped for coming back from his quad injury.

Also, regarding the folks pimping their podcasts and YouTube channels at the G1 Special, I think that's a thing they allow? There's gonna be a podcast alley at the All In show in September, so this might've been a similar deal?

I hate when they do that. Mr. Muscle used to be a nerd. Now he's a ripped CG man. Captain Birdseye used to be an salty old man who lured children on to his boat. Now he's a ripped man who lures children on to his boat.

This doesn't solve the image problem Findus was having.

Are people out there really wearing HOODIES on first dates?!

Have some self respect. And some respect for your date. Put in a little effort and make yourself look presentable.

Tethering your switch to your phone doesn’t work if you have AT&T. They don’t allow NAT over phone tethering and you need NAT to play games.

Trophies>Achievements. The plain numbering system of achievements means someone saying they have 10000 points compared to someone who has 50000 means nothing to me. It may be due to growing up with trophies but I can determine how many games you've played depending on your level. Also Platinums are great for seeing who is a completionist.

The English commentary is actively turning me off of New Japan every time I try to get into it. I don't have NJPW World and only watched AXS and Jim Ross and Josh Barnett are the worst commentary team out there (yes, that includes all of the WWE teams). JR lost his fastball years ago and couple that with the fact that he clearly just isn't familiar with the product and he's teamed with a guy that might know less than even him.

I recently started watching NJPW (started a couple of months ago) and yeah, I can't stand the English commentary either. I don't know who they are, but I don't like it. It's why I listen to the Japanese commentary, because yeah, sure, I might not understand most of it, but it sure beats listening to the English commentary.

The first HALF of this show was wrestling and anime talk.

I mean, fuck anime, but still...this was a nice change-of-pace.

I've never been to a con myself, but as someone who follows a multitude of people who do go to those things, it does indeed seem that one of the big draws for stuff like AX is to meet up with your online friends while also maybe being a few pieces of merch or art. Yeah, it would probably be more efficient to just meet up outside of a con like Jeff described, but it's an easy way for people to get together and also be surrounded by the hobby.

The thing about the Sonic hoodie is that, much like Rick & Morty or pro wrestling, there are a lot of preconceived notions about the fandom. And maybe that's unfair. But that's reality.

So it's less about being yourself, and more about revealing "It's okay, I'm a decent person...NOW check out this Sonic hoodie."

I should point out something to Jeff. Just like anime nerds, video gamers stink. You're just used to the smell.

@jasperkazai: I’ve never heard of meeting people online as a reason to go to an anime convention. I’ve been going to AX for years and the draw would be the concerts, the anime premieres, the guest panels, the industry panels, the exhibit hall merch, artist alley, the cosplay and taking photos. They obviously have video game demos (kh3 and Fate VR was fun) and board games, but I was surprised Jeff couldn’t imagine the reasons.

I heard that this year’s E3 had 60,000 people while AX 2018 had close to half a million unique people attend. If Jeff wants to attend more days to see what AX is all about I would caution to be prepared for massive crowds.

EDIT: numbers mixed the unique was over 100,000 and the turnstile attendance was over 300,000.

@golguin *shrug* To each their own. I follow a large variety of anime fans. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say upwards of 20 people I follow went to AX, and almost all of them were talking about meeting up and doing things together. One guy I know pretty well even said (before the con) that he wasn't particularly interested in any of the panels; he was just excited to see people he knows from Twitter. This has been a trend I notice among people over the years I've followed them. Seems pretty standard.
